Marcus Log-in

I logged into my Macus savings account first thing this morning. I'm an habitual cookies/history clearer on my tablet and it was switched off overnight. Strangely this morning I was able to access my Marcus savings account after entering my email and password WITHOUT being sent the extra security level PIN by text/email? Has this happened to anyone? Thanks.

FWIW, in another thread a poster kindly alerted me to this account and I tried last night to open two accounts ie wife and I and it approved the applications but has failed to send the 6 digit code to my email address so that I can continue. So perhaps there is something wrong ....

It happens a lot of the time. I've only once had to log in with the pin.

There's a PIN? Never needed that to login except maybe initially.
  • I've always had problems logging in via the browser in LastPass app for Android.

Other than that, I've been able to access my account perfectly fine.

I had completely forgot there was a PIN.

All I enter is email address and password
  • Do they not have 2FA built-in?

They use a cookie stored on the PC. If the cookie is found then this satisfies the "something you have" part of 2FA. Otherwise it should want a code sent by text / email.

    In theory anyway!

You would have thought so. Just checked the account and there is no 2FA highlighted anyway other than the encryption message you get when signing in.

Once I've used CCleaner I need to enter the pin again, but if I haven't cleaned since the last login and it is relatively recent then don't need it. So it is the cookie, but maybe a time lag too that triggers a new pin? I should try putting the Marcus cookie(s) into the save list but quite like the safety of the pin. All this with latest Chrome.

Two factor authentication doesn't need to show anywhere, it just needs to work.
