We have a conversion near us and the planning portal has some interesting relevant info, the developer want to put another floor on the building, one of the complains is from a resident saying they have not finished the job and the roof leaks.

Have a look at the planning portal for info.

good plans of the whole building.

there was some enforcement on the site

map is a good option to see what's happening in the area(zoom in).

Thanks, this is really useful. I couldn’t find any plans of the building though... maybe I’m looking in the wrong place? Where would I find them?

    How far round the back?

Have you imaged yourselves having to carry shopping from there into the flat entrances then upstairs to the flat, then go back if you couldn't manage it all.

I live in a terrace house and can't always park outside it. It really annoys me having to carry shopping from a few houses down, it would be even worse if I parked further away and had stairs to cope with as well.

It’s the street out the back of the building. More like an alleyway than a proper road, but it’s a permit parking area that doesn’t seem to get too busy.

I have thought about the issue of having to carry shopping up the stairs all the time, but that’s been the case in almost every other property I’ve lived in up til now anyway. It’s a bit of an annoyance, but on the other hand I think it’s quite a good way of getting some exercise in :) I might change my mind in a few years, but for now it’s not really a problem.

looks like my link did not work start here

    https://idoxpublicaccess.northtyneside.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=advanced&searchType=Application

enter into the application box(I think this was the later one that removed the pub use)

    13/01342/FUL

When you get to the planning application there will be a list of 16 documents

one of them will be the plans.
    PROPOSED FLOOR PLANS

there is also one on the parking.
    SUPPORTING STATEMENT (PARKING)

There is another application that has different plans

    15/01761/FUL

I think that plan is probably the one that got build but still has 8 apartments not 6?

Which floor is not in use if there are only 6?

there were plans for 4 parking spaces on the bit of land at the side

Who gets to use the one parking space?
Looks like Flat 1 might have got it,
There is room for a couple more cars on that patch, which is owned by the building.

The 2013 application also mentions a lift.

Yes, there are eight apartments in the block, and the second plan is the one that has been used. Thanks for reposting the link :)

You’re right, flat 1 does have the parking space. I’m fairly certain that there’s no other spaces as they have been cordoned off, but I’ll go back and double check. Shame they didn’t go ahead with the lift! Thanks for all your help so far!

You can always get one of the supermarkets to deliver, and let their guys get the exercise (some that I have seen climbing stairs though do look scarily out of shape)

You do sound like you have put in a lot of thought to the negatives and are ok with them.

Its a shame the vendor can't be honest about the reason for the move. If they said "I'm fed up with not being able to park outside and having to walk 5 minutes to get to my front door" you wouldn't mind that. But they are not going to be honest so you are left wondering if the reason they are moving is one you can put up with or not.

I know. We’re trying to get some more info from the EA about it, and we’re still waiting for the copy of the leasehold terms to be sent across to us. It was supposed to be the beginning of the week, but still no sign of it, so the EA has said she’ll chase the vendor for it. Hopefully we’ll be a bit further forward with it all next week.

Re the negatives - this is my first experience of buying a property (OH has done it all before), so I want to make sure I do it properly and think about every possible thing that could be an issue further down the line. I’d rather sacrifice things like allocated parking and a garden etc, to have lots of indoor space and natural light. Besides which there’s no point in us having any outdoor space cos every plant I own just ends up dying after five minutes
