Burley Ambience flueless gas stove - any owners?
We live in a large Victorian house & have gas central heating but would like a gas fire or stove for the lounge to keep us warm in the evenings while watching TV & for the occasional quick boost of heating when we have been out all day or away with central heating turned down.
There is a gas point by the fireplace & we have looked at various options. We have had people round from a local fireplace shop who told us that the fireplace needed ripping out to fit a flued gas fire or stove. We are reluctant to do this as there is a charming original fireplace & we are concerned that the marble surround will get damaged. We were also quoted £2,200 for the fire including fitting.
The solution could be a flueless gas fire. This would not require the ripping out of the fireplace but would require ventilation in an external wall. It would also cost less than half of the price we were quoted to have a fluid gas stove fitted. As flueless gas fires are more efficient than a gas fire that sends heat up the chimney it should have lower running costs.
I would love to hear from anyone with experience of using a Burley Ambience flueless stove.
BTW I'm not interested to hear from Luddites or Trolls who believe that a flueless gas fire is a death trap. Neither am I interested in a log burner or solid fuel.
