This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black, breezy wind had died off but has now come back, damp underfoot also as we had rain last night.

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'm showered, dressed and now enjoying brekkie with my first cuppas as I'm working this morning.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I had salmon fishcakes with stir fried veg. Tonight will be pizza, hot bbq chicken drumsticks and hot quiche with side salad, skinny chips/jacket potato and coleslaw.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I got the ironing done, and cleaned both bathrooms, ran the hoover over and did some general tidying, so whilst it's not a show-house it's ok. I did go out and find a new butcher's/farm shop that I've heard is very good, it does look nice but still work in progress and has a cafe too which get's excellent reviews, I've bought a half leg of lamb for tomorrow's lunch - it had better be excellent as it was alot of money - I wouldn't normally spend that much on a roast but thought I'd treat us all and the last lot of lamb we had from the SM wasn't great, we'll see. I do need to get back to using the butchers again and buying my meat separately as the portions at the SM seem to be going up in price and getting less for your money. The meat is generally better quality from the butcher's also.

We'll just be chilling this weekend I suspect.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. I hope today is a speaking, eyes open day for you with DM.

I thought we were escaping the strong winds but they caught up with us through the night and it's blowing a gale out there. The bird table crashed over at some point.

Good news on the house-next-door front! My friend rang me to say her DGDs offer had been accepted. £15,000 below asking price too! Such a relief to know I will have nice quiet neighbours.

After liberty bodice day yesterday, I am tripping down memory lane again this morning. I have Tony Blackburn and his Sounds of the 60's on. Each record brings back one memory or another. Running Bear just been on and that was the first record I bought for myself with my precious spending money! I was 14 and just getting into pop music. We weren't such early starters in those days! It was just the best time to be a teenager and you never think you will ever be the oldie I have turned into!!

I was going to get the bus into town this morning but, unless this wind drops, I might have a change of heart! It was only really to visit the cut-price frozen/grocery shop. My cooking bacon stock is dwindling and they usually have big packs in their chiller which I chop and portion up for soups, omelettes etc.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care one and all xx

    Good morning everyone.

The wind is howling outside and the trees are swaying along.

Plans for today are very simple, do shopping for DM though it's just the staples after her toddle round M&S yesterday. There's a parcel to collect from Doodle and some stuff to drop off at a CS and then I can go home! I've been here since Tuesday so need my own place again.

Yesterday's storm coincided with Spring tides which led to some flooding along my route home. Especially bad was Inverary where the was water over the main road again. Wonder if my place is dry?

Anyway, virtual good vibes all round. Happy Saturday to all.

    Morning All

Still blowing a gale outside but the rain seems to have died down for now. I thought the wind would keep me awake last night but I slept for 9 hours!

You will all be pleased to know that my vest is still being worn, no doubt it will still be on in June! Thankfully I'm not old enough to know what a liberty bodice is but it sounds awful.

Called to see DD on my way home from work, pleased to see she was tucking into some tomato soup. I've swapped cars with her just so that hers gets a run, it's been sat on their drive for 6 weeks. Anyway it seems to be ok, I'll swap back later if I go by.

Nothing planned for today, giving Yoga a miss until my hip/back is feeling better. I've stripped my bed and have another load to go in once I'm showered.

Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

    Morning ladies :)

Wow its windy today love the sound of it but wouldn't fancy driving in it at the moment
TA I remember his show and particularly on a Saturday morning with Arnold the dog :D

Busy Friday as always with my US group hanging around to 10 ish. luckily I had eaten at lunch as I had no time to eat later and 10 is too late for me.

PJ day today with my gorgeus James then possibly a declutter session this afternoon to fill a Monday charity bag. I am trying to be well behaved by not cooking another load of food for an already packed freezer so I had a rummage and have grabbed out some moroccan chicken which ill do with some rice for dinner. To feed my cooking addiction though I also will be making some of TAs lentil and bacon soup which Ill have with some lovely sour dough bread I got in the asda delivery yesterday. Also got some snowballs which I haven't had for years suffice to say theres not many left :)

Nothing much else but I do love a boring Saturday. SO hope your mum visit goes well dont forget her cake :)

    Morning everyone,

Still blowing a gale here in EA but the sky is bright blue and the sun is shining so not a bad day.

We have tickets for the Strictly tour for tonight so plan to travel down to London this afternoon, will do us a main meal at lunchtime and take some snacks for later as can imagine that the prices will be eye-wateringly expensive, might treat ourselves to a glass of wine though :D
We have a friend popping in early evening to check on little dog, she should be ok but it’s the longest she’s been left for quite a while, will take her for a long walk this morning which hopefully should wear her out!
Hope Dumpling is feeling better today, likewise Snoozer’s Steve.
Glad that you had such a lovely birthday JackieO

Have a good day folks x
  • Morning everyone and thank you for starting today's thread silver-oldie.

I'm reading the paper and then going to have a bubble bath, not planning anything too strenuous as I've run out of oomph. I cleaned yesterday though the kitchen could do with another go. It can go on needing another go, as I'm not going to do it today.

Very windy here though yesterday's heavy rain has gone.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

A much calmer day after yesterdays wind, the sun is out, its still quite breezy but not as bad as yesterday.

OH had a job to get off to sleep last night so reading at 1am, hope for a better night tonight.

No plans for the day, fruit out of the freezer for tomorrows breakfast, beef and bean stew in the fridge for tonights supper, will do some veg with it. I made a bread and butter pudding yesterday, half laft so we will finish it off tonight. I need to get the pork out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Still putting drops in my eye, down to one lot 3 times a day after Monday. Wrist is better, but still causing problems, wearing my support and doing the exercises.

OH is itching to get out in the garden, its far too windy and cold at the moment.

Fabric for the pockets on the book pillows arrived yesterday, so I can get on with the one for Denny's birthday next month.

I went over to see my friend yesterday, she had a fall on Monday in the sitting room, I am quite worried about her, she could not get up, it took 3 people to get her into her chair. I made her a cup of tea whilst I was there. Her son and DIL are due today.

TA... pleased to hear that you are going to be getting good neighbours, its always a worry when houses go up for sale.

    Lainey....enjoy your trip.........

Snoozer, I hope Steve is feeling better this morning.

Gers... I hope your house is ok when you get back, nothing worse than water. Safe journey.
