O2 Default Complaint
Hi,
I am looking for a bit of advice what is the best way to go about complaining a default on my credit file with the company in question O2.
When I was 17-18 I defaulted on my phone contact which I had with Carphone Warehouse and O2. There was around 2 months left on the contract and wrongly o stopped paying when the phone was lost.
However I feel that the time when I begin missing the payments O2 did not try to contact me enough and it was only when the contact was then defaulted and passed to a debt collector that I was contacted and reminded to pay the outstanding balance including charges etc.
I have since (2years ago) paid the debt. However on my credit file it is still showing up as defaulted which isn’t’t correct and today stopped me getting a bank account. I am now looking to dispute this on a couple of fronts, firstly I was not contacted adactely was I first missed the payments and this only changed when the case was passed to a debt collector. Secondly I have now cleared the balance over 2 years ago and O2 have not informed credit agency’s within a timely manner and now has left me in a massive disadvantage and this is unfair as the default has been cleared for 2 years and this has been be shown on my credit file.
Is there any useful letter templates that anyone can suggest me to use? And what is the best way to tackle this and try to possibly overturn this?
Thank you all for your time and any comments

The default does not get removed if you pay it off (as the default still happened), but o2 should have marked it as satisfied if you paid it off in full.
I think the only way to get a default removed is if it had been incorrectly added to your file, it doesn’t sound like that is the case with yours as you admit you defaulted.
The default will fall away after 6 years.

Your credit record is exactly what it says a record of your behaviour with credit. D123 has covered other points, if the default is not marked as satisfied you can request a 'notice of correction' be added.0

02 don't have to 'contact you enough times'. How many times do you think they should have to remind you? Did you change your address and not inform them? All they have to do is write to you at the last known address on your file-did they do that?
You knowingly cancelled the DD without giving notice, so they defaulted you. I see no grounds for complaint.
As above, the file should show the debt as satisfied, but the record of default will remain for 6 years. No free lunch, and no free laptop
