Thanks, I will, just concerned he tells me it's fine. No way of checking. I'd at least want them to come back and cut the nails.

Normally the boards get nailed to the joists, and then the tiles get nailed to the board.
The nails for the tiles then protrude through the boards, so that is probably what you are seeing.
If you're worried at all contact the roofers and ask them although I think that's all it will be.
If you want it to look better you can get it finished from the inside.

They won't come back and cut the nails as that will weaken the hold of the tile, not to mention a very time-consuming job that won't be priced for.

As above if you want it to look better from the inside, or are using it as a room and worried about safety, just get it boarded / plastered from the inside.

Surely tile nails shouldnt be that long , not long enough to go right thru?

Scotland does roofs differently than England using Sarking boards, and I think that in the past they used to fix the tiles and slates directly to the boards. However I think that modern practice is to fix battens and sometimes counter battens.
Those nails look like that were intended to hold the OSB sarking to the joists, rather than hold the tiles.

If these are holding the tiles then I'd expect them to appear all over the underside of the boards these just show on neat lines down either side of the truss beams which makes me suspect they are meant to hold the boards onto the truss. They look like 6 inch nails. I'm also fairly certain they fitted batons onto outside of boards to nail tiles onto, I've been slightly reassured by someone else that these batons should also have been nailed into the truss which will help to secure the boards.

We don't use the attic as a living space but do go up there to retrieve stored items or for servicing electrics/plumbing etc Stand up too sharply near any of the trusses and you'd get a nail in the head.

Suppose the question is would you accept this in your attic after paying 6000 for a new roof?

definitely looks like they have missed the trusses while nailing the OSB down, they are not regular enough to be nailing the battens, and not random enough to be nailing the tiles (not that you would see the tile nails they shouldn't pass through the battens). Hopefully they have got enough nails in the right places to hold the roof on. Regarding the nails sticking through, its just the way it is, if you are scared of poking your head, stick some corks on the ends.

I doubt if they used 6 inch nails. Probably 3 or 4 inch. Best practice would be to fix 2x2 counter battens on the rafters, then lay the membrane over the roof and fix the tile battens to the counter battens.
It looks like they didn't mark out the position of the rafters on the OSB and have guessed their position, starting out a bit wide and working their way in till they found it.
