    They're not.

The only charge allowed is for a business card.

just got my V11 and it says:

    Option1: Taxing your vehicle

    6 months =
    12 months =
Pay by Monthly Direct debit =

and is smallish print at the bottom it says "Tax online" There is no fee for paying by debit card but there is a charge of £2.50 for paying by any other type of card

They are definitely NOT. I paid my tax about ten days ago by credit card and no fee. None. Zilch.

They don't charge for credit cards.

Maybe add that as an option on your poll, as it's pointless to have a poll with no correct answer.

Agreed- I paid car tax online 2 weeks ago by personal Amex and did NOT pay an extra charge for using a credit card

I paid mine on 31 Jan, no fee for paying by credit card.
  • I suspect DVLA is trying to save costs by using up old stationery which still carries the surcharge warning. When that has all been used, they'll use new forms that don't have the wording.

So 1 per cent of MSE Forum members don't read threads and don't understand the law on CC surcharges. Pretty good actually.

you might have a point there, I will examine my credit card statement carefully when it comes, it should therefore say £195 not £197.50 then
