Tesco Car insurance Scam

That doesn't matter. If the Tesco insurance is cancelled you can use your old NCB on another policy.
I don't think your problem is related to the NCB.
What probably happened is that the person who reviews the NCB paperwork noticed your car was untaxed or un-SORNed or whatever and they cancelled the policy because of this.
What you phoned up they gave you all sorts of nonsense information, as per usual.
Write a formal letter of complaint to Tesco. Written complaints tend to get answers from people who know what they are talking about.
I taxed the car the same day I insured it with Tesco. A car has to be insured before you can tax it. Or maybe it was the other way around but either way I taxed and insured the car on the same day.

NCB normally "lives" for two years between policies. Tesco don't follow that? Then insure with somebody else.
BTW, uninsured and not SORNed? Await a fine.0 -

Or in fact neither.0 -

But it IS checked all the time a car is taxed.
If a car is uninsured, it must be SORNed - this hasn't changed for eight years.
If tax expires, you must SORN it - this hasn't changed for over 20 years.0 -
I'm aware of the £100 fine and will take that on the chin. The loss of my 8 years no claims and the black mark for having had insurance cancelled is a bitter pill to swallow though.0

Once again as Stator said you haven't lost your no claims, just use the one that was issued by the insurers prior to Tesco, you've got a copy I assume?0 -
You haven't lost your NCB, no matter what Tesco say.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Did you send a your NCD certificate or copy of the renewal letter?0

How do Tescos know that you haven't been driving your vehicle around uninsured for the last 3 months? Maybe that's behind their decision?justinormerod wrote: »What concern is it of Tescos if I had been doing that. I didn't do that and the car was parked up.
If you had been driving uninsured or even if you hadn't but Tesco thought that you may have been then they have every right to be concerned as it would mean that you were willing to ignore the law, something that would increase the risk of them having to pay out on your policy.0 -

Tesco told me they spoke to Provident, my last insurer, on the phone and said that provident confirmed I left them with 8 years no claims. So Tesco are not denying that provident have confirmed the 8 years.
However Tesco say it is not acceptable because my car was uninsured whilst not sorn for more than 30 days after my insurance with Provident ended.
How the legal status of my car during a gap period can render my insurance history stated by my last insurer unacceptable is beyond me!0
