Will neighbours extension lower value of my house?
Comments
-
This is how I read it too. The extension is has existed for some time, but the windows are relatively new.Is the OP saying that the extn was already there, but now the neighbour has subsequently added 3 big windows to it?
If that's the case, "How new are they?" is the next question.0 -
I thought the OP meant the windows were always there but the neighbour always kept the blinds down. Now the neighbour leaves the blinds open.
Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.0 -
Put up a fence directly in front of them0

First, consider how long they've been there and whether to get into a neighbour dispute just before selling.Wanderingpomm wrote: »Put up a fence directly in front of them1 -
Doesn’t need to be a fence. If it’s the outside patio space at the back like in my terrace, it’s perfectly normal to have large potted plants there.
Then it’s not as obvious that you’re being deliberately anticSocial.0 -
Such antics would be obvious to me and to most people, I'd imagine. The results might be unpredictable, like the plants mysteriously failing to thrive....

Anyway, before we speculate further, it would be good if the OP returned to the thread, which she hasn't done yet.0 -
They used to never be open but now they are, previous owner assured me they had been closed for years and never open and that she wouldn't open them. Now she has I'm doubting she should have even put the windows in in the first place. Can't find anything about planning permission but I don't think you need permission when you build within so many meters of the original building and single storey? I might be wrong but yeah, was hoping I could maybe put privacy film over the window because the window is on my side of the boundary...
The room is a utility added to her kitchen, beside her the bathroom, been up about 10 years I'd guess. It never was a problem before because the blinds were neutral and completely obscured the view, now they're blue and badly fitting not to mention open!
My extention is small compared to everyone else's which is why she's had the chance to do this, it's pretty unique because everyone else's extentions generally come out the same length as their neighbours. I'm going to post a photo but I can't figure out how to? My plan was to obscure them somehow, I don't like looking out my kitchen window onto her cleaning supplies and old wine bottles, and I'm really not comfortable that she can see right into my house either. I like the notion of big plants because I already have used some plant trellis at the bottom of the garden to hide a hole in their shed, also pointed into my garden for some bizarre reason.
I'm selling in the next year, if that matters.1 -
How do I add an image??? I'm struggling with this forum it's new to me 😭😭😭😭0

The time to be frustrated about this was before you put your money in to it. Whatever happens its all too late now, your house will sell for what it sells for.
I dont understand your thought process in justifying to yourself your reasons for being frustrated. Its bizarre.
Super helpful response, you sound like a joy. Thank u, next.1
