Did your parents do something daft, like, have twins and call one Bobby and one Bobbi?0

Nope, that's the response I got from HMRC.
Are we twins with the similar names :rotfl:
There is 5 years between us and totally different names!0 -
You/your sister need to make a formal complaint in writing - you might copy your letter to your MP.
Presumably you/she have a reference number. Quote in your letter.

If you have had any letters from HMRC before, you should find your reference number before you call to complain.
Write to HMRC if your complaint is about Income Tax or Self Assessment.

Totally agree.
I am bemused that the OP has " set up a payment plan for the tax I supposedly owe " when she told us in her opening post that "Today I have received a letter saying I owe £400 tax for financial year 17-18. Checked payslip and I have paid tax on everyone. At some point through early 18 I was paying 20% on both part time jobs, so if anything I thought I would get a rebate. I have a feeling I’ve paid tax to my sisters national insurance and not mine.."
I set out in post 2 some suggested options (including making a complaint), it appears the OP has not followed any of these.
It would have been helpful if the OP had posted her income and tax details, so we could have calculated her correct income tax.
This seems to have become one of those pointless threads, where the OP really doesn't help themselves, ignores relevant suggestions other forumites take the trouble to post, and fails to come back with any useful information to help others help her.

Not at all. Good point. All too common unfortunately.0 -
Could be that one of you doesn’t have the right NI number, it does happen either by using the wrong number without realising it or being told by HMRC.

Ask for an account investigation on your details, if you paid to your sisters then transfer of tax is possible. I would have expected twins NI number to be similar but not ones born five years later.
Your sister should do the same.
This needs to be done sooner rather than later as it will at end of day effect the State Pension if left.0 -

I would say you are being a slight bit grumpy, but i understand. This forum is for helping and i assure you as soon as i have a response i will let you all know.
I went through all of my tax with HMRC and they are correct, i do infact owe £400. I had miscalculated.
Myself and my sister have called to correct our details, so our accounts only show our individual details. As we have had to do this a couple of times before we decided it was best to lodge a complaint.
Both myself and my sister wrote a letter of complaint and we are currently waiting for a reply.0
