Double yellows dropped kerb

Hello peoples

Nearing completion of buying a house, problem is no off street parking:( and double yellow lines. There is also a mini roundabout a few feet away. Anyone had any similar experiences

From the limited information provided (major or minor road? Bus route? etc etc) the Highways Dept will reject any application for a dropped curb. Consequently the Planners will also reject any application for a driveway.

Are you aslo asking if you could get the double yellows removed? Next to a roundabout?.........

It isn't a problem; it's a limitation of the plot you knew about, which is probably factored into the price of the house. All houses have limitations.

Similar situations? I know a few properties which have vehicular access in dangerous places, because these existed prior to more stringent rules. Highways departments now work to well-defined guidelines,so there's no room for creative interpretation.

Surely you haven't only just realised this at the point of nearing completion?

Park a bit further away and walk? Why are you asking at this stage? It's hardly unusual in many locations - in theory I can park outside my door, but often end up circling my residents parking zone looking for a space.

Yes, I expect there are other people in houses with no offstreet parking, double yellow lines and a mini roundabout nearby.

I saw a house that looked almost perfect... except for the roundabout directly outside. No off-street parking isn't a deal-breaker for me as long as on-street parking will be easy, but I could see from the amount of cars parked on the street that without being able to pull up outside my own house I'd be struggling to find a spot. I didn't bother arranging a viewing.

If the rest of the street is under-utilised for on-street parking, then you'll just have to park a few yards further away and it'll be fine. But if every household wants to park at least one car on the street, and parts of it are unusable, it'll be an annoyance nearly every time you want to park. Where I live now, sometimes I can't park on my street at all, but have to go round the corner. It's a pain.

How much do you love the house?

I think the question before that is, "Have you exchanged?"

Good point. I forgot/overlooked OP said nearing completion
  • We are in a chain exchanged contracts. It's a minor road the property the two to the right have dropped kerbs with yellows running along the road and the one of the left also has a dropped kerb.
