I've apparntly hit some key that's altered the way it works.
'Ctrl U' no longer underlines text- it open a new window with a load of progarmming text in it.
Any idea how to switch back?

Ctrl-U has always been the shortcut for viewing the source code of the current page in a new tab (for Firefox anyway).0
-
It does the same in Chrome.
Alt S in Chrome posts a quick reply.0 -
Oh dear have I spent too much brain-power over on the property forum mangling my brain?
Now I'm questioning my own mmory of whether I've spent 10 years hitting alt-u or Ctrl-u.......
So I've just tried alt-u and it does nothing. At all.
No really - I'm sure I've always hit Ctrl-u! (note: did that by clicking u button above).
Using Firefox on windows 8 if it makes a difference.
edit: just opened a word document to experiment:
Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v work as copy and paste.
Ctrl-u works for underline!
Just does not seem to work in the forum.........
edit again:
Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v work as copy and paste here in the forum.
It's just Ctrl-u that's gone wierd!0 -
There is definitely something funny going on.
Ctrl-b and Ctrl-i always used to give me bold and italic text when in an editor frame. Note that this was a feature of the vBulletin forum software used rather than a generic web browser feature. It didn't necessarily work on other websites and the fact that Office uses similar shortcuts is irrelevant.
I must admit to never trying Ctrl-u to underscore on these forums as I've always known it as the view source shortcut.
However, this thread has made me investigate. The Ctrl+b and Ctrl+i shortcuts that previously worked now just open the relevant Firefox shortcuts.
The above results are consistent with my Android tablet running Chrome, and Firefox on both Windows 10 and Arch Linux. So either a vBulletin update or a browser update has caused some new behaviour.
My first thought was to check out the vBulletin changelogs and VCS to see if I could spot a likely recent commit - until I remembered it was proprietary software - boo0 -
let's try ctrl-i and ctrl-b
Ah! They both open the bookmarks column on the left of the screen!
Ctrl-c & v still do copy & paste
Ctrl-u opens the source code window.
Alt opens various drop-down menus or does nothing:
eg Alt-b drops down the bookmarks and
Alt-v opens view drop down
Alt-c & v do nothing0 -
CTRL+C and CTRL+V are Windows functions (copy and paste) and will work regardless of the browser. Alt opens the browser menu, again in most applications where its present.
All the Firefox shortcuts are here:

Just a thought, are you using the green skin or the blue skin on MSE?0 -
