Freezer in own room in a shared house

It really isn't. The OP is a tenant and entitled to quiet enjoyment of their property (even if that is a single room)
Please tell that to the OP again if the landlord starts eviction proceedings.
The Landlord rightly or wrongly has made a decision, if the OP can get her to change her mind then fine.
But if I explicitly said no to one of my tenant requests and they ignored it they would not have contract renewed even if it cost me money. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
Please tell that to the OP again if the landlord starts eviction proceedings. - I was clear in my reply that eviction was possible. doesn't change anything else I said

That's fine - it's a business decision you've made. I make no comment of the rights and wrongs0 -
Thanks guys. I knew it wasn't just me thinking that it's a bit outrageous. I should have just taken it there probably wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.
Well, it's got to go somewhere! I'll figure out a way to make it work.
Thanks! Some of the replies have made me proper chuckle
You could get the freezer and the rest of your electrical equipment PAT tested. We had the stuff in our rental tested prior to renting it out and were charged something like £3 an item. Minimum charge was about £20-25 if I recall correctly. It would be hard for the LL to argue safety issues if you can prove, which you can with the stickers, that they've been recently tested.
I bet she hasn't had her electricals tested....Make £2025 in 2025

Do you really want a freezer in your bedroom? A lot are quite noisy. Their starting and stopping at intervals during the night could make it difficult to sleep well.0

lots of students live with their fridges and freezers in their rooms, some of the Pod type designs for studio rooms are just that...a kitchenette down one side of their room.
its probably no more of a noise than a fish tank with a pump.
My student offspring has a fridge, seperate freezer and a cooler fridge...no interruption to sleep, but then again its their choice and something that presumably the OP is aware of in terms of their sleep and inded is prepared to make allowances for rather than use the comunial freezer if there is onein S 38 T 2 F 50

Maybe landlord is worried about water damage when freezer is defrosted?
Many student residences don't allow fridges or freezers in individual rooms, equally many do allow them .Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

But again in the defence of the student if damage is caused when the appliance defrosts that's what the deposit is for.
Whatever...OP I hope you find a suitable solution with your LL..it just goes to prove each to their own and they make the rules to suit the occasion sometimes...its not always about just finding a property to suit its about finding a suitable LL too.in S 38 T 2 F 50
