Find a Benchmarx in your area- they will be much cheaper and the warehouses are local so anything missing/damaged- you can pop in and pick it up.0

Howdens price matched so it arrives today instead of next month and we can make swaps or changes if needed.

I always assume buying kitchens and bathrooms etc are like buying a sofa from DFS. No one in the history of the company has ever paid anything but the 'sale price' for a sofa! Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000

Their sale prices are a load of rubbish.
They are hardly going to turn down a £13.5k sale because you didn't buy before 10 pm. Turn up when you like an insist on the same price, otherwise tell them you will go and buy from elsewhere .
Another vote for DIY kitchens here. We bought our large kitchen with quartz worktops from them last summer and we are very pleased with was about £8k for the units (which we fitted) and quartz (their supplier fitted).Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks for all the responses. Just confirmed what we were thinking. If they want our business they'll stick to the price regardless of the sale period and it seems a bit steep. Plus all those negstive reviews!! Only heard good things about DIY kitchens but a bit worried about it all being a bit "virtual" and you can't actually feel and touch the units. Live in Dundee so no Benchmarx I don't think.
Time to shop around...Skint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.
Think skint - it makes things simpler0 -
Hahaha! No sooner had I posted this than I got a call from the assistant manager saying they want to keep the quote "live" and asking to book another appointment. Fobbed him off for a few days as my wife is out but just shows the sale is bulllsh*t!Skint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.

Give it another day or two any you'll probably get yet another phone call to let you know that their manager has been looking at the figures and thinks that they can knock a bit off the quoted price if you are willing to go ahead and sign the paperwork.0 -

They have a showroom you can visit. When you are planning to spend that much money it is surely worth a weekend up North!?
My aunt and uncle bought a Wren kitchen. It is lovely and they are very pleased with it, but... it took many phone calls, emails, waiting in for deliveries for new doors, missing parts etc... then getting the fitter back to finish it. They said it was a very stressful experience.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

I drove 3 hours to feel and touch them.
It's actually worth a day off work, combined with a night somewhere for fun, if you're that worried.
What is visible in terms of carcass thickness etc is pretty much the same or a bit better than any major retailer you can think of, but far better in terms of choices on carcass and door colours and sheer range.
It's a good standard at a good price.
What is annoying is how long they take to reply. I spent a week trying to get a small few queries answered as it takes 48 hours to get a reply.
I did get bored and I'd based it off Howdens units that my client had already seen. Howdens played hard to get, as usual, so DIY Kitchens was my planned route this time. It was costing a lot of my time and Howdens agreed to come down (I do wish they'd just do it anyway) so I took the easier route, although price matching makes me feel a bit grubby - just be upfront in the first place! This is speaking as trade - their prices are astonishing.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
