Sorry to hear about the car and well done on giving up the wine for Lent.1
-
I've just seen your post cornish_mum and now I feel really bad as I've just succumbed and had a glass of wine. The news that schools and nurseries are to close from Friday pushed me over the edge
my workplace have closed so I'm currently working from home and so is DH. That alone may have tested our relationship, but with kids thrown into the mix means that we have a very stressful month or two (or three!) ahead. On the bright side we have a food shop being delivered tomorrow so we won't starve
This month has turned out to be very expensive. First there was £1100 on the car, then £240 for the house insurance and now my cat is poorly so we've just spent £200 on vet bills. At least I'm saving £20 per week on bus fare....
Anyway I hope everyone is ok. I've not read any diaries recently so I'll have to have to catch up with everyone else's news when I next get 5 minutes.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30002 -
I think a glass of wine is acceptable in the circs. Lent is a test, but there's tests and there's TESTS 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Good luck with the kids and WFH. Testing times as South Coast said. At least in nice weather you can send them outside. Have you got a tent or anything you could put up outside in the garden so they can feel like they are on an adventure and perhaps ae less underfoot?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well we've nearly completed two weeks in lockdown. It has definitely been challenging with lots of crying and screaming (from ds mainly....he has also started telling us he hates us on a daily basis
) We have managed to get DS to do a tiny bit of work each day and have baked biscuits, scones and flapjack so far! We've also done some painting and sticking but I haven't got much craft stuff in and at the moment DS is being very resistant to do any writing, colouring or cutting out. His teacher had said that he needs to work on his fine motor skills so we've been trying to encourage crafty stuff but to be honest I'm not that crafty and I'm running out of craft supplies. I've been looking online for Easter craft ideas so hopefully we can do something Easter related this week and make some rice crisipie chocolate nests
anyway we are all in good health so that is the main thing.
Luckily DH and myself both work for companies which are very supportive so we don't have any worries about income which I know a lot of people do have. We have made our normal £200 overpayment this month. We didn't have to pay nursery fees this month however we did make a voluntary contribution as we hated the thought that the nursery and the staff would suffer.
Kids are up now so better go. Hope everyone else is well!Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30002 -
Have you seen toilet tube craft Becky, we end up with loads and you can make so much. My DS doesn't spend long crafting but plays with them for ages. We've made binoculars, bunny, want to do bats and he loves putting them under the tap when we're not looking and running water through 😳Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%
Current Mortgage Outstanding Middle December 2020 - £47893.35 - a reduction of £42,652 in just over 6 years!2 -
Glad you have been able to keep your jobs and continue to OP. There are some great craft activities online - especially on utube using every day items. Ama*** are still delivering and have lots of craft stuff....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

will also look at toilet roll Easter rabbits as hadn't thought of that. I'm sure he would like to run water through them too given half the chance!
I hadn't thought to look for idea on utube Savingholmes so I'll take a look
We had a lovely day in the garden yesterday. I got the sandpit out for DD. Luckily I found a bag of sand lurking the cupboard as most places seem to be out of stock for ordering online. I did order a box of wine though. Not very moneysaving but sanity saving as I can't see normal life resuming anytime soon. We hopefully have a delivery coming from the local farm shop this week so will just need to pop out for milk and bread.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30001 -
Great to find sand. Glad the suggestions helped. Farm shop delivery sounds good too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
