I'm glad my post reminded you to wish your husband happy valentine's Day Savingholmes!
Our valentine's meal was very nice, although as soon as I got the starters out the oven DD started crying so I had to eat my starter one handedly whilst cuddling her back to sleep  :D luckily she settled back in her cot so we got to eat the main and dessert at the table :)

I've sold two more bits of kids clothing on Facebook today. I managed to buy some dresses for DD on eBay so I think money wise I've broken even today :)

Right DH is out with friends and the kids are asleep so I'm off for a glass of prosecco (leftover from our meal last night) and some chocolates. I probably should do some housework or washing but I think I'm just going to get in bed with a book as a rare treat. Goodnight!

  • I've only managed one eBay sale this week, but I guess one is better than none  :D we have made another £150 overpayment due to not having to pay council tax this month so our overpayment total for the year stands at £1058  :)
The decluttering had stalled but this week I've given away 4 bags of clothes so it's a step in the right direction. I think I'm going to give some stuff away to the charity shop as selling stuff isn't really worth it. I guess I could try listing it once on Facebook/eBay and then if it doesn't sell give it away. It has got me wondering about whether charity shops round here manage to sell much stuff as I've been trying to sell things for cheaper than the charity shops price things at.

Have you tried selling on Gumtree, it is free to advertise there.

Hi Kelpie, I haven't tried gumtree. I did take a look and around here there aren't many people listing clothes so didn't think there would be much passing traffic to view things. I did have one more eBay sale over the weekend.

As lent is coming up I thought I would try and use it as a time to cut back on some of the unnecessary spends I have. Therefore for Lent I'm giving up wine and buying from the vending machine at work. Hopefully it will be good for my pocket and my waistline!
I'm only doing a half day today as I'm going in to read to my DS' class. I'm also hoping I get an hour to do some tidying at home before then but we'll see....

Reading to DS's class sounds interesting. I loved hearing stories read at that age - it was one of my favourite things.
Well done on the OPs too.

The reading to my DS' class was a bit of a shambles. The teacher wasn't expecting me so I'm not sure if I had got my dates wrong or whether they had but it ended up being a bit of a rushed affair. The kids listened nicely and only one of them told me that they didn't like the story  :D

I sold another item on eBay so I'll be off to the post office again tomorrow :) might try listing some more items tomorrow if DD let's me!

Poor DH, his car broke down on the way home from work and he had to wait for an hour and a half for the breakdown service in the freezing cold. The car was brought back on a flatbed recovery vehicle so it's definitely not going anywhere fast. Luckily I'm on the bus route to work so he can take my car for work whilst we arrange for a garage to come and tow and fix it. Sounds like it's going to be an expensive job  :'(
It's the second time in the past year that his car has broken down so it's got us thinking about whether it's time to replace his.

Anyway I managed to list another couple of bits on eBay and Facebook last night. I'm hoping that I get some sales as we could now do with the money   :D

Our £200 overpayment is pinging it's way to our mortgage account this morning, which means our overpayment total so far this year is £1258  :) I've also shuffled some money around into our regular savers.

The weekend has been quite trying with the kids. I'm really regretting my decision to give up wine  :#

DH's car has been towed to the garage so we'll hopefully hear what the damage is today  :'(

Good luck with the car. Well done on the OP. Sympathies with the kids... They don't seem to get any easier with age either - their needs just change!

I'm very excited to say that our mortgage has left the 150's and is now in the 140's  :)
I made another £13 overpayment as I had a Quidc0 payout. I can say that there definitely won't be any more overpayments this month as the car cost over a thousand to fix...ouch!
I've got another two eBay sales to post today so things are very slowly leaving the house :)
