This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone :hello:
After a completely rubbish night's sleep I thought I would give up and come downstairs and start us all off this morning. I must have woken up at least once an hour all night with the pain in my legs. It's really getting to me now. I am going to have to ring my GP and get some advice.
I am also worrying as I am supposed to go to the hospital tomorrow for an xray for my heart failure and I just don't think I am going to be able to go. I will need to catch 3 buses each way and it is completely overwhelming to me. I am worried that my doctor will be cross with me if I don't go even though he knows I am agoraphobic, I am getting myself in a right stew over it all.
Things at home are not brilliant, Lee is really struggling again and it is hard to keep him safe. Lilly and Steve are still bickering and it is wearing me out trying to mediate between them. I could do with a bit of a break from it all to be honest but as I can't leave the house that is impossible. I am sorry for the Woe is Me post and I know there are a lot of you who have it much worse.
I hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to (even if it is gazing at bananas) Take care xx

Morning everyone
I managed to sort a little bit of my wardrobe out yesterday. For some reason it seems like a major task which it isn’t really. I’ll try and sort through a few more things today.
I’ve been doing online shopping for food with friends picking up the fresh bits for me each week but I want to go out today and get a few things myself. I’ll take a slow wander to the nearest supermarket.
Other than that, I don’t have any plans for today so will probably spend the afternoon curled up on the sofa with a book
I’m sorry to hear that you aren’t doing as well this time taff. I hope that you soon start to feel a bit better.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning All
Sorry you're not so good dumpling, can you arrange for hospital transport?
Hugs to you taff, stay strong.
How's Steve Snoozer?
I had a much needed haircut yesterday and as I had the last appt saw the Hairdresser's baby (his Dad came to pick her up), he's gorgeous. Had a horrid drive home in the dark and rain, was so glad to be inside.
I'm treating myself to a massage after work today, going to take my PJs to come home in as it's only 5 mins in the car, really looking forward to it.
Have a good Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING for starting us off. Just sorry it was such an early one for you. Worry has a lot to answer for doesn't it. Could your doctor refer you for patient transport for your hospital appointment. As he is aware of your problems leaving the house he might agree to it.
I am tripping out again today. It's a Skipton on the bus day with my other two friends. The forecast is for a milder day with sunny intervals so a pleasant day for trawling the market and cs. Rounded off as usual with a late lunch and bottle of wine. With much gossiping, sharing woes and a few laughs too.
I can't get too relaxed though as I have two of my DGDs staying tonight. They will arrive for very late tea after dancing/drama lessons. One at 6.30 and the other at 8.00. It will probably be pizza and chips which is quick and easy. Then ushered straight up to bed.
I might, hopefully, have good news about the house next door! The DGD of one of the friends I am with today had a viewing at the w/e with her boyfriend. It needs cosmetic attention but is structurally sound and they liked it so much they have put in an offer! Someone else viewed on Monday and they are worried they might want it also. I do hope their offer is accepted as they are a lovely young couple so hopefully my peace and quiet will reign!! It's such a worry these days as to what sort of neighbours you might have to put up with!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. TAFF and HOLLY don't be trying to do too much and rest when you can. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black, damp underfoot although not raining at the moment, air feels much milder.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken wrapped in bacon, mash, LO veg, LO yorkshires and gravy, ice cream or brioche for dessert. I remembered to get the sausages out to defrost, tonight we'll be having sausages, egg, beans and chips.
Yesterday work was strange, it was dead, then just getting to lunchtime it went completely manic, we had a queue to the door - once we'd dealt with all the customers it went back to being dead again, strange, we'll see what today brings. Last full day this week for me, although I have training tomorrow, and I'm working Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all, everything is quiet and still here.
Dumpling, I see that others have suggested patient transport, worth asking your doctor, even though it won't help for this time. Sorry that things are not goid at present.
Holly it is nice to see regular posts from you.
I didn't post yesterday, I was having a dull and struggly day through lack of sleep but I have slept much better and woke up feeling refreshed.
I am going for an eye test later and I'm pretty sure that my prescription has changed so new specs. Also need to go to the PO what excitement!
I'm trying not to look around in this sitting room, other people may have a tidying up fairy but what I seem to get is a mess goblin on a mission to beat other mess goblins into submission. I'm thinking of running away to sea.
Thinking of all of us who are sad, worried or unwell, and hope that everyone has as good a day as possible. I will check back later as it is Nelski's banana shenanigans day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning hot chicks
Well thats my little work holiday over ...arrived back last night about 10 and just literally left everything in the hall and went to bed think I was asleep within 5 mins
Train was uneventful bar a nice little picnic courtesy of M+S although the choice was pretty limited at that time.
So exciting times for me today....sit for a couple of hours waiting for a car service then over to mums ....swopsies anyone? I am currently thinking a swop with TA would be good although camelots massage sounds good too
Need to nip to asda on the way back could do with some bread and wine ...very religious eh except I also need some rennie :rotfl: Also annoyingly I need to nip to the docs to change my Rx as it seems my usual HRT is unavailable atm really annoying as it took a while to find the right one in the first place.
Right best get on and throw lots of money at the garage hope there is nothing serious
Have a splendid day all :A0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off dumpling, sorry things are not too good for you at the moment, hugs
We went out yesterday and DH had his hot chocolate so he's happy. Bought some frozen mini eclairs for mother, so I will always have cream cake for herVisiting her this morning, hope the cake works.
Nelski hope you got home safely last night and you are ready to find that perfect banana
Holly lovely to see you posting, take care, don't do too much
Decided not to contact DS, Dil yesterday. I looked at her fb page and it looks like she has visited her mother most weeks (DiL's mum lives a couple of minutes from us) so I think that speaks for its self. At least I know where we stand and are under no illusions. Have to accept the situation and if we do get to see them it's a lovely bonus.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning all
Meant to be a lot milder today and the heating is fixed at work :j it has taken weeks and weeks but a plumber came Monday and had a look at the system for a while he then got a soft mallet out hit the bottom of each valve and hey presto !! job done after all that time when we were freezing
Nels I am defo up for a meet in Brighton :jin the summer anyone else ?? Candy ? it would be lovely to put some names to faces x
Dumpling could you get a taxi just this once ? your health really must come first xx
I think I might do pizza and salad for dinner tonight maybe with garlic bread nice and easy and it will use a few bits up.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, it seems quite mild, and the snow is all gone.
Sorry things are not too good for you Dumpling.
Holly, glad you're able to post. I think you have to be in the mood for wardrobe sorting, it'll sweep over you one morning, and you'll go through your stuff like a dose of salts!!
SO, how hurtful for you, why are people so nasty? Surely she could pop in for half an hour.
Nelski, hope your car service won't be too expensive.
TA, enjoy your day.
OL, what a sad story about the baby, put out with the rubbish, tragic.
We are looking after our youngest DGS today, it gives his Mum a few hours off. He's teething, poor little soul.
I'm hoping the washing fairy will call in, the ironing is done, and I need the washing fairy to create a bit more for me to do !! it's never ending isn't it.
Thinking of the sad and poorly, and those struggling with life.
Take care folks0
