Barclays Issue

I am worried that someone else has seen my details
So what should I do here? Can I complain?
A complaint is justified and an amount of compensation is usually given out in these situations. It is not a serious data breach, but it is sensitive information and a lot of people would feel uncomfortable with it going out to someone else. Actually, compensation in this area has historically been generous. You should probably accept any offer over £100, but up to £250 is not unusual.
Barclays should also inform the other party, whose statements you received, that their bank statements were sent to someone else.0 -
They said they would do that then shred them due to GDPR
(Dunno why they can’t forward them on)
Hopefully if my statements are handed into branch (if other person hasn’t forwarded them on to me or not been printed) I will tell them to send them to me not shred them (if they haven’t already),
I don’t like the idea of somone seeing my personal info except for family (mum dad etc) or Girlfriend.
If I do complain I want them to investigate why it happened etc & re send me the originals on colour not black & white or crappy versions
Might get some compensation0 -
I'm sure they'd resend you the statements.
Posted bank statements are just ones the bank has printed out for you and posted. They can do this again at any time.0 -
When barclay’s do it, it comes in black & white like the ones you get from the machine (in branch) with barclays blue logo.
I want them to send me official statements (like ones u get in post) in colour.
Will keep complaining till they do it, will not accept list of transactions or print outs0 -

You can get a colour pdf of your statements Barclays are not a printing shop, there is no reason to insist that they print these PDFs out for you nowadays.0 -
I have complained to Barclays Rung them up (Friday Evening) and said I want them to investigate why this happened and where my missing pages went (Or if they got printed) and to send me official copy of my statement (Like what other banks do) not list of transactions etc and not happy that someone has potentially seen my details...
Will see what they say as got complaints reference number can take up to 15 days-8 weeks for them to investigate0 -
maybe but will see what barclay's say and go from there0

Barclays have screwed up, plain and simple. It's quite an egregious error given the current focus on data protection and as a previous poster suggested, getting compensation should be as simple as asking for it.
They probably declined to pass the kindly returned statement back to its owner because in so doing the bank staff would become liable if you had tampered with it or made any alterations. Much simpler to destroy it, and the other customer can be provided a copy statement.
Once the original colour statement has been generated, I don't believe Barclays has any facility at all to provide additional colour statements. They will however send you black and white copy statements free of charge which are every bit as "official" for all intents and purposes. And as John G Jones mentions, if you have access to a colour printer you can print your own.: )0 -
That makes sense will see what Barclays say.
Will ask for compensation0
