It may be donated but still needs massive upkeep-would you allow free parking, say on your drive if you had one-what a daft post!

    Daft? ROFL.
It is the law so maybe you are right that it is daft  .

I do have a drive but it wasn't left to me in someone's will or donated to me because my home is a place of interest to the general public...I bought it.
  • They're a charity they get NO government funding, how do you expect them to look after these places? Do you know anything about how the NT is run and how expensive protection and conservation of these places and houses is?

I know an awful lot about the National Trust thank you.

I also know how expensive protection and conservation of houses and items of public interest are.

However my post was regarding charging for carparking on donated land and not protecting or conserving items of interest.
  • The National Trust is a charity and is completely independent of Government. We rely for income on membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenue raised from our commercial operations.

Yeah I know lots too. What I particularly know is just how expensive it is to run .

It is a shame that no-one has voiced their opinions regarding a thread that advocates saving money from a National Charity membership and also MAKING money from that same Charity membership.

Maybe the comments towards my post regarding carparking on donated land should have been directed towards the members of this thread who have taken delight in their 'money saving' schemes.

I am all for saving money and making money but surely a line has to be drawn on who or where you save and/or make money from?

IMHO The National Trust, Mountain Rescue and RNLI are such organisations that any money saved or made from membership, cashback etc should be given back as donations....indeed I don't think it should ever be offered but then I am aware that some people only join or donate to such organisations when there is their own money to be saved.

People forget volunteering to help the National Trust is free and in those cases everybody wins.
  • Lots of the houses are donated, they charge entry for them? What's the difference.

Do you really think there is lots of money sloshing around the NT just leftover waiting to be given back to members?

A partially valid point but if we buy a membership with cashback at least the charities are getting some money as opposed to none if the offer didn't exist.
    Just a thought.........

The difference is that it is property and not land. Hence why my comment was regarding carparking on donated land and not property..........

I never said there was lots of money sloshing around anywhere nor that any should be given back to members.

I am a newbie to the Quidco. I was wondering how I can receive the cash back from Quidco because I purchased the national trust membership via Quidco merchant link and made the payment on national trust website.
My question is that I haven't filled any of my accounts details in Quidco and how I will get the cash back from them. any comments?
