Blanking o2 Sensor? Help!
Basically i have been getting a code from my vauxhall astra g (MK 4) for the last month complaining about the o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 being faulty, i finally got round to having a look today and the sensor has completely snapped out of its bolt in the exhaust. I cannot afford the £70 to replace it at the moment. What will happen if i blank it, i see theres blanking kits on the internet so i know some people do this. (I think who ever did the middle muffler delete probably broke this and didn't tell anyone.)
I know the o2 sensor helps regulate the fuel to air ratio however i have read that the sensor 2 is just to see if the CAT is working and i know it is because its just smashed its MOT less then 2 weeks ago.
Its a 1.6 8v Petrol, don't know if thats any use but thought might as well include it.
Any information is helpful and i would appreciate if we can keep on topic.

Nothing will happen.
EML will light up. That's it.
Your correct. Monitors the cat efficiency, nothing more.0 -
You can probably hook something up to fool the ecu; google it. It's easier with a semi - working lambda sensor; then you can just filter the output with a resistor and capacitor. Then reset ecu with OBD2 scanner.

A bit pricey but cheaper than O2 sensor.0 -

yeah well you either need a new sensor or a simulator or you build a simulator.0

well if i can just about afford a sensor but the tool to remove it is a extra £20 anyone know a cheap way to remove them.0

Use a spanner.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I have never used a special tool to remove a 02 sensor as above I use a spanner. They can be a pig to get undone so use some penetrating oil and something on the end of the spanner for extra leverage.0

Alright i'll try that when the part arrives. Appreciate the help people.0

The special tool allows a good grip while protecting the wires. Using a spanner may round off the old sensor; then you are really stuck.0
