Advice about corrosion and a dodgy MOT?
Comments
-
I think the point trying to be made is the garage say it's 2-3 years worth of corrosion but no suggestion from any previous mot that is the case. So the last mot may be relatively consistent with previous years.
Thus there may be a bit of dramatics here.
Take it for an actual test at an independent mot station or a council test station.... see what they actually fail it on. Not just a pre mot report0 -
Ok folks, thanks very much, I really appreciate your time.0

What is it about the history you don't want to share?0
-
Ok - I'm not sure how this got turned around to me apparently being dishonest. There's nothing about the history I don't want to share - I just didn't see the point.
For the absence of any doubt, however:
6 February 2018 - PASS - No advisories
6 February 2018 - FAIL - Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3)
13 January 2017 - PASS - Advisory notice item(s)- rear suspension trailing arms front bushes in poor condition
- Offside Rear Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3)
- offside rear tyre wearing down on outer edge
- Nearside Front Track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.B.1f)
- Offside Front Front wheel bearing has excessive play (2.5.A.3c) Dangerous
- Offside Rear Rear fog lamp not working (1.3.2b)
- Offside Front Lower Suspension arm cracked (2.4.G.1)
- rear suspension trailing arms front bushes in poor condition
- Offside Rear Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3)
- offside rear tyre wearing down on outer edge
13 January 2016 - PASS
Advisory notice item(s)- Front Brake pad(s) wearing thin (3.5.1g)
- Nearside Rear Trailing arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)
- Offside Rear Trailing arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)
- Nearside Front Track rod end ball joint has slight play (2.2.B.1f)
I hope that's sufficient?0 -
WHat car is it? some are more prone than others. Its possible to have a terminal rust failure in one year, yes; it can all come out quite quickly once it goes.0
-
Hi Ed, thanks for responding.
It’s a Dodge Caliber. I wish I could show pictures of the corrosion but the site won’t allow me to post links. 😕0 -
I know it doesn't answer your question, but the Caliber is well know for excessive rusting, with many people arguing with Dodge about it.
A quick Google before you bought it should have been enough to warn you off.0 -
Oh, brilliant, thank you Waamo.
