I read that "air regulators grounded Turkmenistan Airlines for safety reasons"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47115732
The article says that stranded passengers must make their own arrangements and suggests several ways to get money back:
* Contact the airline
* Contact a travel agent (if used),
* Claim compensation from ATOL protected Travel agent.
* claim back from credit card (section 75)
* for a debit card, as your bank to do a charge-back
* Claim on travel insurance.
I wondered what would be the best order to go through these?
Note: idle interest - I'm not affected.

airline or agent - depending who booked through
ATOL - only applies if booked as a package not flight only
credit / debit card - depending how paid
travel insurance for costs not recovered elsewhere0 -
Actually, I would claim all on your travel insurance first.
If they get even a sniff that you have received payment from any other source they will either deny or reduce your claim considerably.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
