Not happy with Ikea chair, refused refund.

I bought an Ikea markus chair on the 12th January 2019. The lumbar support is now starting to hurt my lower back, so I tried to get a refund stating "it is not for for purpose" and it has been less than thirty days. I'm informed they can not refund because it's been used, my comfort is a personal preference and they have not had other complaints like mine.
Anything I can do?

Your comfort is indeed a personal preference. it functions as a chair. If there is a fault which is causing you pain, then that is their issue. it not suiting your body is not a fault.0 -
How have you raised your complaint?
I suspect there is little you can do. Sometimes using the social media pages of companies yields a more forthcoming response. But its hit and miss.
After that ebay it.0 -
If you are rejecting the chair as not fit for purpose then you need to be able to prove this. Until you do so, Ikea have no obligation to do anything and as comfort is a personal thing, I doubt if you will be able to get this required proof.0

Think I'm out of luck. Odd how there are so many good reviews of this chair online, I'm not an unusual shape.
I'm not going to Ebay it, I should burn it so it can't hurt anybody else.
No good will from Ikea either, you live and learn I suppose.0 -

If the chair isnt broken/jabbing you in the back, and hasnt bent out of shape, then it just doesnt suit you. It has good reviews, its not going to 'hurt anyone else' unless they have the same lumbar needs as you.0 -
It is jabbing me in the back though, the lower lumbar support is a narrow strip and digs in at the edges
.
The burning thing was a joke, but I truly could not sell it on in good faith. I don't have any special back needs either.0 -

Just trying to save you a bit of money/get you a bit of money!
Theres on chair at work, looks the same as the others but everytime I get home on the evening I have a real crampy stomach. Clearly I sit weirdly in that one chair, so I avoid it. it doesnt hurt me at the time but i really feel uncomfortable after a while of sitting in it. Doesnt bother anyone else.0 -
Thanks :beer:0

I'm an average person with no back issues, but one of the cars I own causes me no end of back pain - everyone else who drives it / is a passenger says it's lovely!
Unfortunately Ikea are right - sometimes people just don't get on with a certain type of chair. That's not their fault, the goods are fit for purpose - just not for you.
Gumtree is good for chairs etc0
