Doesn't work with phones, it appears. Apparently, once open, it's too late to return.

Things need to be tried before a judgement can happen.

For the record, I bought the head unit in this topic 10 days before returning it, but it was only in my car for two days and was put back in the box perfectly. Two days was plenty to see how it performed. I wouldn't take the pee.

You blamed the head unit? how do you know its not your speakers?

Unpacking, customising and removing the wrapping from a phone certainly is taking the pee if you expect to be able to return it - would you be happy paying full price for it knowing someone else had used it, with the plastic missing etc? (The topic in the other thread).

I think you really need to re-align your expectations - even if you'd bought the stereo online you'd only be able to handle it as you would in a shop, fitting it and deciding for some reason you didn't like it (unless faulty) isn't a good enough reason, the retailer could deduct from your refund.

Things need to be used before deciding if you want them.

Seeing them in a shop for 10 minutes isn't enough for anyone to make a proper decision.
The law doesn't agree with you.

Wrong, as you've been shown you in your other thread.

I'll say to you what I say to customers in my own shop - take all the time you need!

It's up to you to take the amount of time you need, however long that is, to make sure that the thing you're buying is right for you. Don't let the sales staff push you around, because at the point where you hand over money or your card inside a shop, you've made the decision. You have bought the thing that you decided you wanted. If you change your mind later, that's on you, and it's between you and the returns policy of the shop you bought it at. There's no law to protect you from making the wrong decision, so you need to take as much as as you need to make sure that it's the right decision.
Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:

A head unit needs to be plugged in to a car, ideally. Certainly to listen to it.

Do Halfords no longer have test units in the store for you to listen to? With typical car speakers attached? If you want the test to exactly replicate the acoustics of your car then you're going to have to spend way above Halfords level....
I need to think of something new here...

In my local two stores, they have between four and six models with power connected but they're behind acrylic, so you can't interact with them.

The model I wanted was not on show.
