Am I entitled to refund from noisy hotel stay?

Hello I stayed in a hotel last night and unfortunately the rooms opposite and near to me were occupied by a group of guys that stayed awake the entire night (10pm-10am) and made a huge amount of noise. They were constantly shouting/screaming, running around the corridor, knocking on each other’s doors and shouting the corridor, smoking and repeatedly setting off alarms. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my room to confront them or going down to reception. They didn’t sleep whatsoever so neither did I.
Would I be entitled to any type of partial or full refund from the hotel?

Did you not have a mobile phone to phone reception to complain?
Unless you complained at the time and therefore gave the hotel chance to rectify the situation (e.g. move you to another room), you have very few grounds for a complaint.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
OK thanks for clarifying - I don’t think anyone was on reception after 10pm (last time people could check in) but didn’t phone to check0

No, not entitled0

Surely there was some staff involvement when the alarm(s) were set off?0

Even if reception closed there will be staff, a night porter or watchman, you should have phoned reception. If the guests were that bad then you have every right to complain. Phone and ask to speak to manager and explain what a terrible night you had. You may get a good will free stay.0

Thanks all. I should have phoned in hindsight. I have contacted the hotel to let them know what happened and they stated a porter completed regular checks and found no issues so they have dismissed me. I realise now there is nothing more that can be done, good to know what to do in the future.0

Did you not contact security? Get them to sort out the issue?
Surprised that someone would have the patience to allow this to go on pretty much from 10pm to 10am....
Also surprised that it happened for that long, too, as "a group of guys" (if we go along the lines of "stag do" etc) don't generally make noise until between maybe 1am and 4am (When they return back from a night out and when they fall asleep).
I think you are more than entitled to ask for a goodwill gesture IF your stay was for one night (ie you didn't have as much incentive to rectify the issue), but I don't think you are *entitled* to anything here sadly. Got to give the hotel an opportunity to sort it out for you.0 -

I had a similar problem, I never went down to reception until 2.00 am as I kept hoping they'd go to sleep.
We got a free breakfast and the full cost of the room refunded.0 -

As it happened, though, it sounds like you were a lot more pro-active than the OP in seeking a resolution hence the fact that you got a resolution.0
