Doh..I thought NW was Nationwide!! I've only recently had NatWest account, so only card I've had.

    Sorry, can't edit on phone.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

awww....my heart bleeds...and besides, it sucks not having an account number on the card :)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

  • Do I understand correctly that these unembossed cards also have no record of the card number on them?

If the cards don't have any record of the card number that could be a problem. For instance if you have several accounts with RBSG and want to do an ATM withdrawal or make a purchase, how do you know which one to use - and with which PIN? Or perhaps you have several and you lose one - how do you know which one you've lost? Similarly, if you want to park your car in one of those cities where you have to ring a number and give card details to pay, how is that going to work? MOTO and online shopping will also require you to have extra information with you to make transactions.

Alter ego has the right idea with the marker pen. Otherwise it sounds like a complete fiasco.

The cards have all the usual debit card information printed on them.

All my debit cards except the Natwest ones have my account number on them.

That's not really essential to the function of a debit card though - some banks put the account number on there for info, some don't.

I don't think anyone said the account number on the debit card is essential. The comment was about "the usual data".

As an aside, I have about two dozen debit cards, from almost all the UK current account providers. I can't see a single other one apart from Natwest/RBS/Ulster which doesn't show the account number. Which others do the same?
