AA Home Insurance...be vigilant

Just taken out Home Insurance with AA.
Received documents today and it was confirmed I was on automatic renewal.
I never requested this so I phoned them to query and was told that as I applied online and there was “no interaction” the policy was set up this way.
I asked for this to be changed as I did not want auto renewal.
The change was confirmed, and I asked for an email confirmation but was told one could not be sent as they have “old” systems.
I was advised to check my renewal notice next year for confirmation.
(I have had 5 emails thanking me for taking out the policy!)
So be vigilant when changing insurance providers..... even until renewal time.

Auto renewal is standard practice, always put in diary for renewal

  • It is generally standard practice however if you have explicitly told them you want to opt out of auto-renewal that should be enough for them to put a stop to it.
The idea that their systems are so old they cannot send emails sounds like absolute garbage though.
