Woodford Equity Income - I really don't get today's drop?

Is there any possibility you are getting caught up with the Terry Smith and Nick Train hype? Are you doomed to be forever chasing the return that someone before you just achieved? How will you feel when the next style rotation occurs? The stocks in these two funds have been very popular recently.

Anyone who bought Fundsmith a few years ago will have a big broad smile because of the gains. So I think it's very important to have a portfolio management strategy with an active portfolio so that big winners and losers don't take you away from your target allocations. Maybe if you bought both Fundsmith and Woodford Equity Income you should now be selling Fundsmith and buying Woodford? I'd find that difficult to do and I suppose a broader asset/sector based rebalancing would be better. I'm glad I just have to rebalance between broad cap weighted indexes....now excuse me while I get into "Downward Dog."“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”0 -

He points out that it's all because of fake news.

To be fair I made 30% in 3 years, which no one would carp about, and perhaps was lucky to get out around the right time after, but he is a contrarian, and will have off periods and will not mirror an index. If we had the real correction that is necessary to get rid of the "zombie" companies, perhaps he might rebound as he did after the tech crash as value takes off. But in the era of central bank support, maybe his historical experience does not work as well.
I think a lot of Hargreaves customers should be worried about the advice to stick with him while all the while being silent about Fundsmith.0 -
I’m sure there are plenty of Woodford owners on here who will have to manage their holdings in his funds. I think this is a good example of how funds can sometimes lose money. People will always post about their winners, but it’s just as likely that you’ll own a loser, it’s just that they don’t make the headlines. If the Woodford story makes people understand that investing is a bit more than just buying the hot funds then it will have been useful.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”0

Weird - the links dont seem to be working when posted on here for me, although they are correct and work when put into a browser normally.
The link looks OK on the page but the actual links you've made have missing colons after the https. So this should work.
