This is the roundabout, but there isn't a motorway, it's the A41/A406 North circular in Cricklewood...

And which exit were you trying to leave at?
  • The exit I was trying to leave is a two lane exit the left to the m1 slip road the other towards the shopping centre
  • I was trying to leave at the exit after the Edgware road exit

So, just to be clear, you were trying to continue round the roundabout in L1 here...?

Google maps (Feb 2018 image) has lane markings showing but it is not consistent in that the exit towards the M1 is poorly marked if at all. FWIW there is a lack of eye level signage for the other exits i.e. unless you had local knowledge or be otherwise familiar with the area finding the North Circular R'd anti clockwise could be interesting. Lots of stuff on the road surface itself but in heavy traffic may as well not be there. Looks like you were cut up but in the absence of witnesses 50/50 is probably the best outcome.
  • @adrianc yes the lane was clear and no driver in the middle lane was indicating to turn left I checked my mirrors and there were no road markings indicating that I couldn't take that lane. I understand now that I may have moved a bit premature but I already passed the first exit and I was indicating the other driver made no attempt at all to stop even when seeing I would be continuing instead he sped up which is why we still collided as I'm turning right he's still turning left it was unavoidable due to him not stopping. I am not completely familiar with the location.
  • Also can I ask I have a mechanic friend who does bodywork and has said he will repair my damage for a hundred quid my excess is £900 so even at 50/50 liability it will still be more than if my friend done it but I have hurt my knee flaring up a knee injury which is pretty painful and I'm back using a crotch where do I stand if I got my friend to do it? I don't think I can afford to pay the £900 upfront will my claim get cancelled? This is all new to me sorry for all the questions and thank you for your replies

That must be interesting for all concerned. Have you tried a crutch instead?;)

If there's an injury involved you should go through insurance. Who knows what medical treatment you might need, the cost of which will perhaps dwarf any car repair costs.

You need to find a way to afford your excess if you need to pay it. It's a sum you agreed to when you took out the policy so it's important that you are able to pay it in the event it's necessary. When you get your next policy, lower your excess to something you could afford if it came to it.
