Roundabout accident

First Post and need advice.
I joined a roundabout taking the third exit. The roundabout has 4 exits with two lanes joining two lane exits. The roundabout has three lanes and I was in the middle lane when joining. The exit I was taken there isn't enough space to move from the rhl to the left lane after passing the second exit and so I joined in the middle lane.
I needed to be in the lhl for my exit as although its a two lane exit the left lane leads to the motorway (which I was taking) the right to another direction. I was in the middle lane and after passing the first exit I merged into the left lane just before the second exit, still indicating right as there were no cars in the left lane in front of me and no one in the middle lane was indicating that they were turning left. I proceeded round the roundabout and after passing the point of which I would have turned left had I of been taking the left I cancelled my indicator to start indicating left as I would be exiting the roundabout with two cars already in the left lane to take the same exit. From the middle lane a driver came across me who was not indicating as he saw I was continuing in the lane I was in he sped up rapidly but my driver side wheel arch has clipped his passenger rear door. Minimal damage to his car a dent and scratches and a dent and scratches on my car slightly worse than his. He admitted he was not indicating but said I was wrong despite ind and showing my intentions. He has dash cam footage. My insurance said likely to be 50/50 as there is no road markings or signage. what does that mean? Never had a crash before so I'm not sure.

God knows how it will end up but my betting will be 50:50 unless his dashcam footage shows something entirely different to what you have described.0 -
surely if his dash cam shows him cutting into you its his faut
without seeing that it will be 50;500 -
What is clear is that the 3rd party disagrees with your story (in part) or he wouldn’t have declared he has Dashcams footage0

Unless it's a rear-end shunt, almost all roundabout incidents will end up as shared liability. Therefore both parties will end up with a fault claim, and both parties will be able to recover their share of their losses (e.g. excess) from the other party.
So if it is declared 50:50, and your excess is £200, then you'd be able to pursue the other party for £100 of that "loss". Bear in mind though the they'd be able to pursue you for 50% of their excess too. So if theirs is £400 they'd pursue you for £200.0 -

So you were in L1 on the roundabout, approaching a two-lane exit you weren't taking.
You had been indicating right, but cancelled your indicator as you approached that exit.
Somebody in L2 on the roundabout was exiting onto L2 on the slip?
You hit their rear door with your front wing - so they were almost completely ahead of you?
What did the lane markings and signs on the roundabout say?

Theres another post titled "Liability for Roundabout Incident - Same Insurer" - I wonder if they're related.
If not, there may be some help in that post responses too.0 -
You've made several references to lanes and markings, then you say the insurance say there aren't any. A picture speaks a thousand words. Can you find your roundabout on Google maps, and copy and paste the link for us, and tell us which road you were coming from, and going to?
The forum might not allow you to post links as a new user - trick it by putting some spaces near the start of the link and that should trick the forum, and we can work it out from there.
If he can PROVE you drove into the back of him, it's your fault, if you can PROVE he moved into your lane without warning, into your SIDE (you say front wing), it's his fault. For the moment, the insurance will leave it at 50/50 I imagine unless one of you puts some work in...0 -
I was in the middle lane to begin with after passing the first exit I merged into the left lane as the driver in front wasn't indicating that they were taking a left turn. The left lane was clear and no one was behind me. I was still indicating right until just as I approached the exit I was going maybe 19-22mph. The driver to the right of was still not indicating and turned out in front of me by the time I saw him in front his bonnet was just past my bonnet and he quickly sped up still turning left in front of me. As I saw his bonnet I slammed my brakes but as he sped up to still make his exit I've hit his passenger rear he was doing maybe 25-27mph possibly more by the time he sped up. The are no road markings to say the lhl is for left only.0
