NannyW, the tenant left last week without any problems thankfully.
Candy, Albie is settling in well, he is scared of men but gets used to them after a while. Unfortunately DD had to have her other Staffy PTS, still DD gave her a wonderful year after her horrible life.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Afternoon all.
I was up and out by 8.30 this morning as I had a hair cut appointment. The temperature then in the west end of Glasgow was -7c. The car needed to be de-iced but even the stuff I sprayed on was freezing again. Took me a wee while of running the heater and the windscreen boost thing to get the window clear.
Hair cut done I drove back to almost DM's house to park the car and take the bus into town. First stop was a quick look at the M&S sale where I picked up a pair of dark green trousers for DM, reduced to £3.84 from £19.50. Such an odd price. I thought that even if they don't fit or she hates them I can happily take then to a CS.
Then I had two building societies to go to as my regular savers had matured, and also Lakeland for DM. A quick freebie coffee in VM kept me going until now.
I'm so glad to be back in DM's centrally heated toasty home. New neighbours are moving in right next door to her though I suspect perhaps not actually physically - the flat hasn't got central heating so I think that has to come first.
The news of Jeremy Hardy's death is so sad. I was wondering about his absence from The News Quiz only last Friday as he's usually a regular on it. He'll be missed.
Good to read about everyone, I hope those who feel rough soon get soothed. A sprinkling of virtual hugs all round. Happy rest of Friday.0 -

Snoozer, glad Steve seems to be improving a bit, hope it continues.
Nanny, if I'd read your post about a black pudding sandwich before I went out I would have bought some, now it'll have to wait till tomorrow. I love black pudding, yes I know what's in it, but I still like it!!
And nanny, sorry, I can't take your Dad on,my own Dad drove me to distraction, couldn't possibly cope with another!!0 -
ScarletRibbons - alas, temp started to rise again, cough much worse and to top it all he developed a rash on his torso.
I rang the helpline again but unfortunately got the same woman as the other day who was quite dismissive. Same again today so I wasn't impressed. I rang the GP and was given an appointment straight away and when we arrived they put us in a side room because they knew Steve was vulnerable. The doc thinks the rash is either a reaction to the anti-b's or a viral rash, He's changed the prescription and told us that we need to go to A&E if we're at all worried.
I'm annoyed by the nurse on the helpline though - everyone else has told us to ring immediately with any worries but she makes me feel as if I'm being neurotic.0 -
I'm so sorry to hear the latest problems for you and Steve snoozer. It's such an awful time for you both. My thoughts are with you both.
My DM loves her bargain trousers :j she's transfixed by her slim figure as she's spent her life being a size 16 so this new 14 is astonishing for her. She does realise that she should be eating more and can't lose anymore. (I'm aiming for a size 16!)
Two lovely colleagues of mine have both moved their timetables around for next week to help me out of a hole. DM has an appointment at Gartnavel right on my reaching hours on Thursday. I tried to change the appointment but the next one is in August. These two chaps have shuffled around to swap sessions with me, I'm so grateful. The students will be confused.
It's still very cold here though no snow in sight. I hope everyone is safe and warm.0 -
Evening all,
Sympathy with those of you with snow, I loved it as a child as it meant no school, dread the family driving in it. It is very cold here, was out at 7.10 this morning to get the paper for OH as I was babysitting twin M who had a vomiting bug yesterday and couldn't go to crèche today (48 hour exclusion) she is fine and helped me make pancakes for mid morning snack.....just managed to leave one each for her brother and sisters!
Holly, sorry to hear that the sleepless bug bit you last night, hopefully it will just be the one night.
Snoozer.....hopefully OH will improve soon...what a b###h to have to deal with.....you wouldn't ring if you hadn't been worried and instructed to make contact....the odd bad apple makes you appreciate all the wonderful nurses out there.
Hester, life is hitting you hard at present, the constant appointments are draining, try to get some time to relax.
TA.....I think that you are doing very well, as someone else said it is early days.
Nelski.....I know what you mean about the weekly "row".….I frequently bemoan the fact that I haven't had a decent argument since my father died in 1994! So relish them.
We got a bit of a shock this evening when I added up our food bill for the month......over 600e.....too much I think for six people, will be more careful in February as I consider that way too much, no wonder I don't seem to be able to save as much as I used to do.
Take care of yourselves in this rotten weather.

They don't get that it's the weekend and they won't be available over the weekend in case you need them. I would remind her when you phone next, if you do speak to her again, that the calls are recorded, and that you are expressing concern over steve and want to ensure that there is nothing to be concerned about.
I had the same reaction from one of the cancer nurses who just would not listen to me and in order to get me to gree with her would just keep repeating the same thing over and over again.
I get that they may see this kind of thing all the time professionally and might have become a bit blase about it, but they forget it is not them dealing with it, it is you and steve and you need to be reassured that it is usual and not something to be panicking over [ and it can get to that stage easily]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
