Old Style Daily Friday 1st February 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I’m afraid I’m joining the early morning wide awake club today for the first time in a long while :(. I had hoped that I had got out of this habit.

Not quite as cold this morning as yesterday. I’m hoping that by mid- morning it isn’t icy on the pavements, I want to take a slow walk up to the town and collect my prescription myself although it looks like we have a sprinkling of snow and there is more forecast for later during the night.

Later a friend is coming for a visit, so that will be a pleasant couple of hours. After that I think it will be more reading and TV. I’m leading a bit of a boring life at the moment.

There is a load to go into the washing machine as well but whether or not I get around to that we will see.

I did manage to get the living room and bedroom dusted yesterday, and vacuumed the living room.

It’s good that your arm has gone down ScarlettRibbon.

TA I hope that you had a better day yesterday, it is early days still and understandable that you are having ups and downs. Take care x

What a pain having to go all that way to the hospital taff. As you said, at least you were in a position to sort it when some people wouldn’t have been.

    Take care everyone x
  • Good morning Hollyharvey and all who will be here later. I'm up because I need to be, thpugh not necessarily quite this early. OH and DS need to travel to an appointment and I'll have to wake them in an hour. It is a bit of a worry. Although we have no snow, who knows what it will be like further north and how the weather will be later.

I will be doing the Friday Tidy with a vengeance - knowing that they would be put today, I've left things for a few days and it shows. It really is like living with bears here, bears with no sense of tidiness.

I shall pop back from time to time today, in between bouts of my scrubathon.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, thinking of those of us who are unwell, worried or sad.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning HOLLY and all to follow. Well we got snow overnight and the forecast has been upgraded from light snow showers to heavy snow falls!! Will wait and see what disruption it causes. DD lives in a hazardous part of the village for getting out of when it snows. No doubt the DGDs will have their fingers crossed for a school free day!!

I have no plans for going anywhere. The Friday Tidy is on the agenda for today and I hope it progresses better than last Friday when the dodgy hip stopped play and I threw the towel in!

I hope to be in the Soup Kitchen later. Today it will be a big pan of Red Lentil & Bacon. My stocks of soup in the freezer are diminishing again as I do enjoy a nice big bowl for my lunch this cold weather. Some chicken out defrosting for tea. Maybe Hunters Chicken not done that for a while.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

Still cold but at least it's not January any more! Love February as it's short and I don't have to pay council tax!

Managed a trip to a large shopping centre after work with DD, gosh I had forgotten how much I hated it. Anyway, DD got what she wanted and I picked up a parcel for a work colleague. I only bought a couple of new bras as after my Marie Kondo experience I realised I only had rather old grey ones!

Hope the poorlies are feeling better and you are all staying safe and warm. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black here, cold and frosty start again, we may/may not get snow today - we'll see.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash and veg, all eaten and enjoyed, meat was nice and tender although I'd managed to get it cooking low and slow early enough in the afternoon. Tonight will be something quick and easy most possibly with chips, I'll organise it later when doing the food shopping.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, got some of the jobs done I wanted. Car passed it's MOT and hopefully the work they've done has solved the problem. I managed to get some other jobs done from the list although today I need to do some housework and must tackle the ironing. I did sort my computer desk out and now I can see my pc screen without peering over the top of a pile of letters etc!

    Keep safe and well x

Morning! Snow here from about ten last night and still going strong this morning. For some reason, Ihave been craving croissants so I may wrap up and go and get some. The shop isn't far away, but thanks to snow, may not be open as early. We'll see. I did ask the OH to get some beef yesterday for me to make stew but the butchers was shut. It's not like there isn't enough of anything else to cook and eat, but some times, you just want something you haven't got don't you?
I'm loving these briquette things, the fire is roaring away already. Amazing what a difference it makes, but I don't think this house would stand the temperatures Chicago for instance is getting. The lean to would have collapsed by now and the house would have been full of snow...better get on that later in the year ):
Nothing plaed for today except some cooking and some watching of films n stuff. Cleaning was never my strong suit so hats off to you Holly :)

Wotcha poppy, continued improvements csarina, sleep stick bashing TA and Holly. Better the train than sorry Nelski! Take some time for yourself if you can Hester, with looking after CHS and the house sale etc, you must be exhausted by now. Hey tru. Scrubathon! Haha! Hope everyone is doing as well as they can, have a Friday that exceeds your expectations...

  • I'm about to start marinating stuff for a Burmese curry. In between bouts of tidying, should take my mind off them being out on icy snowy roads.. I had to force them to take a blanket.

In other news, local police officer has said that she'll drop by to collect some bears. Last time I was wondering if anyone heard my husband's stentorian shout 'Jackie the police are here looking for bears'. If you didn't know they were collecting trauma teddies, the neighbours might have been slightly alarmed, grizzly bears being rare round these parts.

    Morning :)

No dramatic snow scenes here this morning just blummin cold and icy. Jackiemum your pink parka sounds just the trick for this weather :D

TA you have inspired me to do some red lentil and bacon soup ...do you have a recipe? I've spotted one by Hairy Bikers but would rather use a TA tried and trusted one :)

So yesterday was a fun course it turned out they were not trainers but solicitors ...confusing web site then. Apart from the drive it was well worth the effort. In two minds now though my courses Mon and Tues are in Brighton and having decided to go on the train I am now umming and arring about booking it with the southern white out predicted. Thinking virgin will refund if cancelled so will see if i can get my trip with them.

Out to lunch today :j really looking forward to it as haven't done much but work lately. After that I will maybe have a Friday Tidy or maybe not. Still lots of invoicing to do and I need to have a word with myself as nothing gets paid till the paperwork is done

Working tonight but no driving required. Shouldn't need much to eat after lunch out.

Hope it snowed in red ruby land :Dsilver sorry mum is ignoring you again that must be agony ...least I get a good row every week :)

Anyway stay safe in the weather all :A

edited to add.....I see it did RR .....enjoy
