Scottish Power Best Deals ?

So... - I do a comparison of current energy deals on Cheap Energy Club page - my previous deal ends today...

I also login to my Scottish Power account - and I'm offered 2 new deals - neither is as good as the Cheap Energy Club deal with Scottish Power - so I go back to Scottish Power page and start a webchat with them - asking why they are not offering me the deal I've found on the Cheap Energy Club page...

"That deal is not available to you"
"That deal is for brokers and builders"

I spent some time with the agent trying to convince him and myself that being a loyal customer for several years should count for something - but obviously that's not the case...

I did complete the "change of supplier" form - but I'm guessing I will be turned down on that offer - time will tell..

Why not remain loyal, get yourself the best tariff, and earn yourself £25 cashback courtesy of MSE too? :money:

Still, on a positive note; this has brought you back to MSE after a 5.5 year posting hiatus

We do find the posts of all MSEers very important; if it were not for the invaluable posts of people like yourself, this forum would surely die.
Just so sorry to see you couldn't spend even one minute of your time within our compnay on this occasion; next time maybe? :)

I'm in a similar position, ie I'm on the Super Saver April 2019 deal and I'm considering going for the Super Saver April 2020 deal. I had an email from them that included this:
Also remember as a ScottishPower customer, you can move between our tariffs at any time without paying exit fees.

So my existing deal does not end for another 90 days. I take it that quote includes changing tariffs using a Cheap Energy Club?

Edit: Just got through to them on the phone after a lengthy wait. The exit fees only apply if you leave Scottish power. Now - shall I change now and pay more for the next 90 days, or shall I gamble and change today in case a better deal doesn't come along. Decisions, decisions.....................
  • I logged in to my Scottish power account & had 2 new deals offered - neither of those deals was as good as the deal shown on the comparison page on this site - but when I spoke to Scottish power on a webchat - they said I could not have that deal - it should all be quite simple really ? - just give me your best deal ? - seems to me they are a very slippery bunch - time to stop all the "special" deals - let everyone have the lowest price without spending a day or week doing research to find it - better things to be doing than chasing these ***people***
I did apply for the deal that was showing on this site - have to wait and see if it is turned down...

It shouldn't get turned down. I did exactly this last year just before my existing deal with them ended. It took 5 days or so for the tariff to be changed and a few weeks after that the cashback was paid into my bank account.
  • I have done the same with E.ON in the past too without any issues. Just slightly annoying that price comparison sites can have unique deals so you have to search out the best deals by going round all the big price comparison sites.

I think this particular tariff is on all the ofgem accredited comparison sites
(but I've not checked them all)

This is a tariff only offered through brokers e.g. comparison sites
(and direct to builders according to the OP), not available direct from the supplier ... although I know in the past some suppliers will inform their current & prospective customers of it's availability via the third party.

This is different to collective tariffs, which may only appear on the specific comparison site that arranged it. But to get a collective tariff, you have to have pre-registered your interest anyway, so you should get informed of when it is available and where. :)

Hi I am half way through a switch from sp, to So energy.
    Been with them 20 years+.
They phoned me Thursday night 1930 hrs and asked why I am leaving.
Price I said, so she offered me April 2020 fitfeen month tariff.
I said, phone me tomorrow with details and I would consider staying.
She did phone Friday morning, very polite and nice ,gave me details, I said I would do some number crunching and come back to her if I thought I wanted to stay.
She said just ring them if I changed my mind as I was within 14 day cooling period.
Indeed, it Was /is a good tariff to the ones on their site, and the new 2 year one I changed to mid dec.
I spent all day ringing them Friday, spoke to umpteen people, messed about, to be told it was a retention deal, and they could not find it anywhere.
They said they would e mail retention team to ring me, ASAP,no call from them yet.
Decided to let switch ride, change over 13th feb with So energy.
I have sung Sp’s Praises on here for ages, but not any more.
