Afternoon! Well, I found out why I haven't seen any nurses this time. Apparently, I was put on the sytem on the day I left hospital, then deleted so they had no idea about me at all. Which necessitated a trip to the hospital at eleven last night to get another drain becuse they didn't have any, which meant i got home at half one, which meant i didn't sleep till half four this moring. Then two turned up this morning, I suppose they came mob handed in case i wanted to kick off. I didn't, mistakes happen...
The fire is burning like a good 'un, it's apparently -6 outside [ which is precisely why the fire is huge today, and the heater is on in the downstairs toilet. I'm warm, cosy and not intending going anywhere...
I didn't do cauli in oil and vinegar, I did it with onions and some madras paste instead, slightly undercooked so it was nice and firm and it was lovely. Will do that again.

Nelski, take care with the driving in unsuitable conditions! snoozer, fortifying thoughts...TA, hope the film reel runs backwards to better memories. Good news csarina. WB Holly :) SR, hope it's all good. OL, at least it was frozen! WeeMidgie, i love a good leftovers meal, it's already mostly reasy, you just have to chuck things togethe rin combinations you wouldn't usually try :) Wotcha Poppy.

A banging good Thursday to you all.

  • Afternoon all

Thanks for the thread Nelski and hugs to all those in need.

I've not posted for ages I don't seem to have the time, what with taking CHS to the Therapy Gym twice a week and the Stroke club once a week, today was a consultant appointment.
Stroke club is £55 a month and the Therapy gym is £7 a session so that also work out at about £50 month. To find the money for these I've changed our phone and mifi contract to save money.

The water in the marina is frozen, but it all looks beautiful covered in frost. The stove is topped up with coal and I found a chicken reduced in the co-op we stopped at after the hospital appointment, we should get a few meals from it despite it being a very small chicken.

I'm going to sit in front of the stove and carry on with my crochet now until it's time to cook our evening meal.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

you are far more tolerant than i would have been.

Well, luckily it happened to me not someone who couldn't afford it to have happened to them, I expect they'll do some kind of learning thing from it and hopefully impleent a double check or something to stop it happening again.
Good job I have understanding in laws though, one took me, and one was finishing work late so stopped off on the way back.If I'd have to have paid for taxis both ways I would not have been so understanding :)

  • Afternoon folks. The temp has now leaped up to minus 4!! And we have the thick fog back that shrouded us this morning. But no snow, although light snow showers are forecast for through the night. I hope they stay light, we don't want a re-run of the snow we got last winter when we had no bus or post up here for five days!!

Aldi was very quiet this morning. everyone must have been indoors keeping warm. We got there about 9.00 and lots of reductions about, mostly veg and bread. Although I did spot two packs of smoked haddock reduced to half price and that's now stowed away in the freezer. Chuffed with that.

The Bolognese Bakes are sitting in the kitchen ready to go in the oven when the girlies arrive. They are entering a freestyle choreography competition in March so no doubt there will be much cartwheeling round the room going on for my enjoyment and opinion!!!

Well lunch eaten, coffee cup drained and dw just finished so back to it. If I look sharp I might just have time to get my feet up for half an hour before the girls arrive.

Hope you folks in the south west and south Wales don't get the snow as heavy as they are predicting. Keep safe and wrap up warm. Take care all xx

Extremely cold here today, thankfully none of the white stuff, I hate it..

Expecting DDIL1 at some stage, she and DD1 are off to Rome for the weekend at some unearthly hour of the morning,....her birthday present. It's a long drive from West Cork so I will be a little anxious until she arrives.

Steak and mushrooms, mash and onion gravy for dinner, DSIL on duty, we all cook our own steak to avoid problems, fresh fruit for anyone who wants pudding.

Holly, great to hear you being so positive......would agree with Hester that dust will always be with us.

Stay safe , well and warm everybody, and be careful if driving in hazardous conditions.

Good evening chums thick frost this morning but most had burned off by 11.00 as the sun came out
The forecast of the white stuff hasn't happened yet and I just looked out and it's not even frosted up at all.

Went to Maidstone today with my youngest DD as it was her day off from work, and I found a lovely parka that's fur lined with a furry hood that actually fitted over my thick right arm, so I was a happy old lady:)
it's in a dusty pink which was lovely.

Then we came home to my house and did a bit of decluttering of my wardrobe and DD went off home with some tops that I never had worn or were likely to as they had been impulse buys :) but she said they will do for work for her. I also have a big bag of stuff to go to the CS as well tomorrow so my wardrobe is looking a lot better and less cluttered as well :)
We had lunch out so I shall just have some fruit tonight as I'm not that hungry and won't eat just for the sake of it ,perhaps some cheese and biscuits before hand

Hope you got to Nottingham OK Nelski or if not managed toget back home safely.

looking at the news it seems the north of Kent has missed the worst of it at the moment
DGS Danny said last night on Facetime it was -7f in New York which is about -21c in our money :) pretty blooming cold

Tomorrow as long as it doesn't snow I shall be at History club ,which I always enjoy

Hope everyone is tucked up warm and dry tonight I can't imagine what it's like to be sleeping rough on the streets when it's as cold as this

    Take extra care chums
