POPLA declined appeal when my daughter was locked in the car!

Hi, so I received a parking fine from a private car park company. I took my 18-month-old daughter to Macdonalds, we spent around an hour in the restaurant. As we left, I put my daughter in her car seat and whilst strapping her in the car seat, I put my keys on the driver's seat (Which I have always done with no problem). I shut the car door to walk around my side, but the car locked itself. My keys and daughter was locked inside the car. Luckily, Vauxhall garage was opposite the car park, I rang them in a panic, I explained what had happened and they sent over 4 guys to try and help. It took over 30 minutes to get into my car! As you can imagine me and my daughter in a state. This would have been caught on CCTV. I was in the car park longer than I expected but out of my control. Vauxhall explained the car should have not locked itself. I have appealed the fine but with no surprise it was declined. What should I do?! I have always paid fines in the past but this time I can not help but find this unfair, it was out of my control.

It was never a fine and you should have simply complained to McDonalds.

Never do appeals as the driver talking about mitigating circumstances, you were doomed from the outset with that 'appeal'.

Now ignore the PPC. Is it MET? No-one pays them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    It is not a fine.

What is the name of the PPC please?

What happened when you complained to the McD's manager/CEO?

What did you put in your initial appeal?

What did you put in your PoPLA appeal?

You are now in ignore mode unless you get real court papers.

Please complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

actually I am serious , your daughter was the keeper , she had the keys

  • It was MET Parking and what I appealed was exactly what I wrote on here. Do I wait till they call me to court?

it is not a "fine", its an INVOICE

the first appeal would have gone to MET

they would have declined it and issued a POPLA code, so the second appeal is to popla

    have you done both ?

and why no landowner complaint for a cancellation ?

Guess why I said no-one pays MET?! :)

Read a few MET McDonalds threads (search this forum) and tell me how many you find that went to court?

At time of writing, there is no evidence that MET have ever taken anyone to court.

PoPLA is the second stage appeal. If you appealed to MET and it was rejected, you would have been given a PoPLA code. Did you make one or two appeals? One appeal to MET and a second appeal to PoPLA?
