Nothing was cancelled, ebay appeared to be trying out lots of different ways to give private sellers free listings, and that was just one thing that some people got. Even now many of us still get different offers which is why reading the terms of any offer is so very important.

Well it was cancelled for me because I was being charged an extra 35p for every item I sold and ebay eventually stopped it. I wasn't the only one who had it cancelled. I'd be very surprised if anyone was still getting the charge.

I queried the 35p fee every time I was charged it, I knew why they charged it but I wanted to kick up a fuss. It was really stupid charging a listing fee after an item sold even though it was listed under a free listing.

It was merely a short term offer , it lasted as long as the terms of the offer and then was stopped. Private sellers have been getting all sorts of weird and wonderful offers , sometimes all at the same time which has been very confusing!

I had been waiting for this limit increase as my account only allows me to list 10 items per month - this is completely no use to me as I have LOADS of stuff I would like to try and sell. Hence, I was soooo looking forward to being able to actually list, sell and maybe pay off some debt. BUT ...
Now these “supposed” listing increases have started - I am appalled to discover I can STILL only list 10 items per month as eBay have incorporated into the T&C’s for this that “current selling allowances remain” i.e. you get NO CHANGE in your listing allowances AT ALL.

Listing allowance has nothing to do with the free listings. All new sellers or those with defects or restrictions have limits on their accounts until they have a proven history of good practice.

Free listings have only ever applied up to the limit of their personal allowance, nothing has changed.

If your account is in good standing then you can try contacting eBay to increase your listing limit.

Also as above this is not an increase in free listings , in fact it is a decrease. Most private sellers with history and with accounts in good standing have had 100 free listings a day for ages, and that equates to up to 3100 listings a month for free, so 1000 is less than a third of what they had been getting.

Well it says I can list 10 items or £650 a month, whichever comes first - which will obviously be the 10 listings!

So as above if you have a few months successful selling under your belt , good positive feedback and a good seller dashboard phone ebay and ask them to increase your selling limits.

Just check for increase selling limits on ebay help:

Thanks for that. Although I tried that yesterday and when I press the “contact us” link, it doesn’t give me any number - the page just refreshes xx:(

Make sure you are clicking on the correct link and if so try another browser - it just worked for me. If not find a spurious reason in 'Help' and keep trying different options until you get hold of 'contact us by phone ' or live help.

Incidentally how long have you been selling and what does your dashboard look like, any defects, lates or warnings at all and are you showing as top rated ?

Thanks I will keep trying and get there somehow! I haven’t been using the account long and haven’t sold much - basically because having a 10 item limit is pretty much useless to me.
Thanks for your help though :)

I can see the auto relist thing causing a lot of issues, people complaining why they have been charged such and such etc.

It will be like when they introduced the 35p listing fee added to fvf they did last year. They must have received so many complaints and queries about it they ended up just cancelling it.

    Yes that was very odd.

I had to read the t&cs a few times to actually get my head around it.
