Morning all from a cold and frosty ( but sunny) mehefinland
Rained all day yesterday and then froze so it was a little dicey on the roads this morning. Mrs M and DS car doors frozen up so they had fun.
Sallylab has 4paw drive so she was ok but I did have to do a Poirot impression walking up to the mares. The day rugs which were taken off wet yesterday had frozen a little so that was an interesting experience getting them back on. Bit like frozen washing off the line. They didn't care as they were munching on their brekkie but reaching under Bruise in particular to get the strap was a bit iffy. All sorted and out now though. Looks like a similar thing likely tomorrow, hopefully the rugs wont be frozen this time.
Rileycat decided it was much nicer to stay in the barn and keep warm. I'll chuck him out later when it warms up or the little beggar will be in all day.
Hope everyone stays warm and safe. Hugs and spoons to those in need as always

Morning all ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Well the feeling of an eye full of grit has gone this morning as has most of the blood shot.
I have to say our Drs practice is wonderful, I phoned and asked the Dr to call me after surgery, she phoned and I explained what the consultant had said and she agreed to put me on BP medication. By 6pm the chemist had called and delivered my prescription, so was able to get a dose in last night. I was advised to take it when I go to bed with my other medication, so if there were any side effects hopefully I would sleep through them. I must admit I did sleep better last night for a change.
Very bright sunny morning, we had sleet yesterday but no snow over night, just a very heavy frost, OH said it was down to minus 2.8!!
Nothing to do really, I might just iron the pillow cases, leave the sheet and duvet cover for another day. We finished off the shepherds pie and crumble yesterday for supper, gammon and salad tonight with jacket spuds.
Snoozer, sorry to hear Steves temperature is still causing problems, I hope he has a better day today.
Holly, lovely to see you posting I was wondering how you were getting on. Keep your chin up, we are all rooting for you.
Nelski..... you have my sympathy, I do know what its like, my Mother became very demanding as she got older. I have a feeling its a family trait, one I am trying very hard to quell, which is why I often get into trouble with DD2. She goes mad at me if I do not ask for help.0 -
Morning everyone,
Well - this weather!! I thought I'd left nasty weather behind in Scotland. My journey this morning took me 3 hours, when it usually takes 10. But I got here in one piece and I seen some cars who didn't so I'll be thankful.
I'm parked in Tesco, which has a 3 hour max stay, so I'm not sure wither to risk it or nip out again at lunch and move it. Or go home and work from there.
Busy day ahead regardless. Hope everyone says safe and warm!0 -
Hello again, my meeting has been postponed as they are snowed in up there. We aren't, just a bit of frost but I'm relieved as if it had gone ahead, the drive woukd have been a bit hairy.
Now I have an unexpected free day! I am able to fill it though.
Deleted_User that all sounds positive, glad you are recovering well and your surgery sounds supportive.
Snoozer, I'm sorry to hear that Steve is struggling, you must be so tired.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
We don't have any snow
but we do have brilliant sunshine :j. We are supposed to have snow tomorrow though, we will have to wait and see.
We didn't have an omelette yesterday as Mr Fix It went all chefy, even to the point of tucking a tea cloth into his trouser waistband :rotfl:. In the end it was a chinese style pork/rice dish, but he makes enough to feed an army ( old habits die hard ) so the leftovers went into the freezer and it was delicious. I think he's missed his calling and should have been a chef instead of an engineer.
I rang Dad last night and he moaned that he hadn't been out, seen anyone etc. so I invited him to tea today, but he doesn't know if he will come as it's too cold to venture out ! I can't win
. Anyway I left it up to him whether he turns up or not. Mr Fix It is cheffing again ( that sounds rude  ) and he's talking about a curry, so there will be plenty
.
I am going to make a apple and mincemeat crumble, as I already have the apples and I bought a couple of jars of mincemeat in As*a for 29p each last week :money:
I think I will do some ironing this afternoon as the basket is starting to fill up, I do mine with Phil Collins
. I have to keep the windows shut though, because otherwise it sounds like a cat has caught it's tail in a door when I sing along and I don't want to frighten the neighbours :rotfl:.
AOD good luck for today
Holly lovely to read that you are ploughing on and still sound upbeat. Special hugs coming your way :A
Snoozer I hope Steve is feeling a little better today. This bl00dy disease and it's treatments has a lot to answer for
Csarina glad your eye is feeling less painful today.
Mehefin :hello:
Organza Lace I was going to say the same as Snoozer about the furniture. Great minds and all that :T
Gers I too found a cardigan in a suitcase, brand new and still with tag on . I don't even remember where or when I bought it
I shall now have another coffee and then get on with the crumble. OOOOOOOOh "Thor" is on the tv ...... the crumble can wait
Please take care those who are braving the elements today.
Hugs to all

I'd move it Speky...they wont stop ticketing just because of the snow
AOD good luck for today  Bananagate was pathetic to be honest and revolved around me feeling it was time to go after the meal as the snow had started to come down and her saying it wasnt snow it was a "bit of rain" ......:D all the schools in her town closed today because of the "bit of rain" :rotfl: I dont have a 4x4 and wont be buying one so tend to be a bit more cautious in snow. As it happens once I got to my town it was no where near as bad but could never have known that. It just seems she wants a row every week now I feel like walking away.
csarina I had the op a few years ago and it transformed my sight I went from extreme short sighted to fantastic vision although of course that wasn't the real purpose. Take care of yourself x0 -
Nelski I know that feeling all too well
. Have a great big hug from me :A Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Morning all, well, it is just! Or it is when I'm beginning to type this...OH has gone out to see what redundancy package is forthcoming, I'm sitting in front of the fire. Have not been contacted by district nurses at all, and will wait until Friday to do that myself [ more fears of drains and seromas etc] . It is birght and sunny and frosty, so if it does decide to chuck some white stuff down, it'll definitely stick.
Feel marginally better today but know better [ at last!] than to go and chop wood for example, will watch some Marvel films today I think.
A couple of friends came round last night, two out of three of us are not well, so the other has the burden of being the well one for a change...They brough enough KFC for an army, so guess what we're having tonight insead of fajitas? I'll do some cauli in oil and vinegar to go with it for me as a vague nod to being healthy.
I did buy the Takeaway Secrets book, written by someone who was housebound and had lots of time to perfect takeaway recipes, so I'm sure I can find that and make myself a takeaway. He calls it Southern Fried Chicken in there but it's the same thing...
Nelski, hope is wonderful thing but in your mothers case, it might be misplaced
You are the one doing her a favour because if you weren't there. she would have to fend for herself. With that in mind, and also bearing in mind when we were children we did as we were told, mentally divorce yourself from her tantrums, and tell her you're leaving when you're leaving. She doesn't have the worry of driving, and she will definitely blame you if you did have an accident, so do what you think you should. I had an ex who was always angry, i used to try and dispel the anger but then I realsed it was his default mode, but that I didn't have to react to it, that it wasn't my problem, that I couldn't change him but could change me and started totally divorcing myself from his emotions. Or you could do shock tactics and tell her you are leaving but she's free to call a taxi to get home...Blimey, that's a load of rambling for not much help....
snoozer, hope steve stays under the temp threshold, I know how knackering it can be to be the one looking after someone else while worrying all the time. camelot, I'm OK ta, apart from the pain, but I've altered what I'm taking now and gone back to the usual suspects with a written down time so I don't leave it too long between PK's. Enjoy the meet up! Hey holly
Wotcha Poppy...OL, freecycle, freegle, gumtree have free items that may come in handy for him if he wants to stir himself
Right, I fell like I should be doing something so I'm going to eat a chocolate bar [one of many many leftovers from Christmas] and drink some tea until the feeling passes...
Have a good one if you can, f you can't, get a baseball bat and beat the sh*t out of Wednesday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Afternoon everyone ,
It snowed again around 5 this morning when DH went to the bathroom, and it was frozen underneath.I didnt risk taking Ly1a to the park up the hill and just went across the road to the little wooded area - she loves it.
I had to pick up my new reading glasses in town at 10.30 but DH was able to run me down ,I was ready by the time the van was defrosted - the side door was frozen so he couldnt get to the tools & it took a while. There are quite a lot of schools shut but not the DGCs, surprised me as DGs is at the top of a steep hill and very exposed but will have to keep my eye out on the FB page in case they finish early.
Got my specs, never had reading ones before, ooh I can see small print :rotfl:and hopefully help me when I'm sewing too.Picked up some reduced meat in marks and other bits,a top and a couple of books from the cs. The bus was on time and I was the only one on after a couple of stops.
Good to see you Holly,we just need to get through the next couple of months and it'll be lighter and hopefully brighter and warmer & you can plan your outings.
Hugs to Taff,Poppy and Steve
Stir fry for tea ,quick and easy after picking the DGC up as I am always in demand
Take care in this bad weather xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
