This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning :)

Someone came round in the night and sprinkled icing sugar all over my street it looks so pretty :j
No substance to it though so will just take all the cars to head out and it will be gone. Did consider running out and make a snow angel but its too cold and I dont want to get my slippers wet :rotfl:

There are benefits to this early morning lark one of them being enjoying our first flurry of snow before everyone wrecks it. I'm in both camps re snow on the one hand it looks so pretty on the other it causes so many road problems so if I can have a home day its great if not I loath the stuff.

Tough day with mum yesterday so wont bore you all with that. Stopped at Costco on the way back for petrol and picked up a couple of the warehouse offers ...bacon and sausage... so wont need any of those for a long time now. Need to do some clever freezer maneuvering to get them in today :o

Continuing the work list today then will be cracking on with some sales.Need to prep for Mon and Tues too.

Food wise I am having some mini pies I got at Christmas from M+S for the buffet that didn't really happen. Theres steak and chicken ones if i remember rightly theres also some mini jackets...grief I can stretch Christmas out :D May have to finish with cheese.

Right arris moving time to top up tea :) Have a lovely day all and enjoy the snow if you can

  • Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Nelski.

I am feeling like a human being instead of a cross rat today as I slept much better and have only just got up.

I'll be off to an interview (but they call it a meeting ) about some sessional work later. We still don't have snow even though it tried to snow yesterday and I'm wondering what the motorway is going to be like - where I'm going, there was snow yesterday. Oh well, we'll see and I can't do anything about it.

Boringest information of the week is that I did all the ironing yesterday, I find it goes a bit more quickly with a bit of Mozart.

Thinking of all those with worries, illness or sadness and hoping that everyone has the best day possible today.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black here, we did get some sleety/snow for a while last night but hasn't really settled on the roads just enough to make the grass look very frosty. Roads that are not gritted won't be nice as it froze after the sleety/snow fall - so will need to be careful on untreated roads.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he'll catch a lift with me then go to the gym.

Dinner last night was roast chicken portions with pasta in a creamy mushroom sauce, brioche for dessert with a cuppa. Tonight will be haggis, neeps and tatties, I'll add further veg, as no-one else in the house will eat swede, I have the LO veg from Sunday's roast to eat and DH is not overly keen on haggis, so he'll have some of the LO chicken I put to one side last night.

Work yesterday started very slow but then we had a manic spell, not sure what will happen today as very often bad weather puts people off coming out unless it's desperate. Last working day today until Monday.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

More snow here although I don't think there's enough to disrupt anything but you never know!

Good luck with your interview AOD.
    How are you -taff?
    Anyone heard from tru?

Apart from visiting DD on the way home from work I had a lazy evening catching up with some TV I'd missed, I can't concentrate on the TV after 9pm!

Meeting an ex colleague after work if the weather doesn't turn nasty, should be a good catch up.

Hope you're all as well as can be, take care. XX

Thank you for starting us off Nelski, any news from dear Holly?

    Good luck AOD

Managed to get out yesterday after lunch and have a coffee, well drinking chocolate with cream for DH :D. Bought some leeks so will be making lots of leek and potato soup, some for the freezer for another day.

    Visiting mother today.

Thoughts are with all those finding life difficult
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.

No snow here at all :( its been raining most of the night and has now frozen so the roads so it will be slippery out there, they have said we might still get some snow over the next few days I do hope so the clients love it !!

Off to work today and as soon as I get in I put everything on that I can all of the gas rings, oven grill and it does warm up nicely, for the caf! I have borrowed two fan heaters which just take the edge off enough to make it bearable.

Dinner tonight is either something with mince or chicken will decide when I get home either way it will be a quick dinner.

Snoozer I hope Steve feels a bit better today, much love to you both xx

AOD good luck for your meeting xx

    Have good day all xx

    Good morning.

It's very frosty here though I know that the main roads are difficult because of snow.

Snoozer - I hope Steve is better today, he's going through the mill.

I've been watching the light break through for too long, time to get going. Earlier I turned on the upstairs radiator so that the chill can be chased away before I shower.

As I used up my indoor stash of logs yesterday I'll have to go outside to bring more in. I'll take the opportunity to walk up the track to a neighbour to hand over the 'found' clothing.

I hope everyone is safe and warm. Happy Wednesday to all.

    Morning everyone

Pleased to wake up to some snow of the grass and a hard frost but nothing that has settled overnight thankfully.

Life is ticking over for me at the moment. I’m still not doing much but am slowly recovering from the surgery and regaining my strength. There is still radiotherapy to come when I have healed sufficiently, but I’ll worry about that when we get to it.

I was looking out of the window this morning dreaming of the summer and the (hopefully) warm weather. I am determined to be going out for days at the coast and wandering around the park people watching like last year. Meanwhile, I think it will be dozing on the sofa, reading and watching some TV in the warm today.
I was sorry to read that quite a few people have got worries/problems right now when I read through a few thread a few threads this morning. I hope that things soon improve for all of you.

Taff I hope you had a better night and soon start to feel more comfortable.

Csarina hopefully you are feeling ok this morning. That was a nice of your friend to bring you food.

Hopefully Steve soon feels a bit better Snoozer, hopefully his temperature stays down.

Organza glad things are looking up for you.

    AOD good luck this morning.

    Take care x

  • Great to hear from you Holly.

Nelski I'm so bereft without the bananagate update. Silver-oldie good luck with your visit today.

I'm just waiting for the washing to finish and then I'll grab a shower, it will be a fast one, too cold to linger, even in hot water.

We had another stressful night! Despite feeling better when we got back from the hospital Steve started feeling worse again and his temp went higher than ever. I was on the phone to the helpline at 1am but we didn't have to go back thank goodness, i was so tired. His temp dropped again by 6am when the nurse from the helpline rang to see how he was. It's gone up again now - I just wish whatever he's got would do one.

Brian came up and collected Ziggy, I miss her but I'm relieved that I don't have to think about her needs when we end up in hospital.

Holly, good to hear from you.

OL, are there any charities that could help Prodigal with furniture?
