I think the OP feels that the manufacturer should replace the unit based on a known common fault where the manufacturer are just replacing units with replacements anyway.

Trouble is they don't have to because OP is not a direct purchaser of the product.

The product MUST go back to the seller, the seller sends it back to their retailer and so on and so forth.

My mention of product recall is when the manufacturer has put out a blanket statement saying send it to us well replace it regardless.

They haven't done this so the OP is bound to Ebay. any fight against the manufacturer would be futile - pointless.

I had a similar situation, a fault with a pair of mountain bike forks.

I bought the bike 2nd hand and I spoke to the distributor of the forks. They got in touch with the manufacturer who wanted to see POP. I contacted the ebay seller but was unable to get POP as they are now in jail (another unrelated story!)

The manufacturer agreed to replace the part as a gesture of goodwill, something over and above what they had to do. All I had to do was pay the bike shop labour, so a £40 bill instead of a £400 bill.

If the manufacturer had said "tough, you are not the original purchaser" then I would not have had a leg to stand on.

Again, I bought 2nd hand and I forego some rights, if I wanted all the rights I would have bought new.

Of course, the fact I got a £4.5k bike for £1750 had something to do with it as well :)
