"Final demand for outstanding payment" from Trace Debt Recovery Ltd

I have received multiple letters after receiving a private parking fine. I have ignored all of them up until today.
Today I have received a letter which says that I should not ignore this Final demand and to please consider the letter for the final demand of payment otherwise the case will be passed on to their legal department for further recovery action. Something tells me this is just another letter to scare me but I'm scared to take the risk and so I wanted to consult the forum before I take any action. I have 7 Days supposedly from the date of the letter to prevent this action being taken. I have tried to read in the forum every single time I've received the letter but nothing that I can see relates to this type of correspondence. The amount has gone from 60 to 160 pounds

Apologies if I am repeating something but hope to hear from someone soon

TRACE ???? Just one of the sad debt collectors who attach themselves to scammers.

TRACE = ZERO POWER= IGNORE = DO NOT CONTACT

Who is the PPC who also sadly believes that TRACE is the business

    You don't owe £160 .... Trace have added on a fake £60

    1. It's most certainly not a 'fine'
    2. Trace is a debt collector, they have no direct claim on you so cannot issue proceedings
    3. Read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 to understand the game you've been dragged into
    4. Read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4 to tell you how to deal with debt collectors.
    5. Which parking company?

We cannot type out all the comprehensive answers to the same problem every time a poster comes on seeking advice. We are dealing with up to 100 cases per day, we would simply fold. That's why the NEWBIES FAQ sticky was created so people have a 24/7/365 resource to turn to in order to gain the basic details.

Come back if you need any clarification on anything you don't understand - but please be aware, the sticky is not a 'skim-over' document. Grab a cuppa and a notepad to make your own notes as you go through it.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

As Umko says this is not a fine. It is an invoice for the alleged damages they claim they suffered when you allegedly breached an alleged contract We call it a scam.

The whole industry is a scam, relying on threats of court, and the public's ignorance of the Law, A bill is currently before parliament which will regulate the scammers, many of whom are ex-clampers.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.

Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Second Reading in the Lords this month, and, with a fair wind, will l become Law later this year..

All five readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 7-8 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers. e

  • Hiya
I did read the newbies fact on numerous occasions but I think I didn't analyse the information that I needed to extract from it but when I got this letter I felt like I hadn't seen any Post which addressed this stage in the process and that's why I added another thread but I do sincerely appreciate all the information that has been put in this forum.
I have utilised this forum and thread relating to parking fines on numerous occasions and have ignored multiple fines but this particular letter struck me as did the rest of my family and that's why I felt the need to write it in so that others can be aware but thank you so much for the information I really do appreciate it and has given me confidence to carry on and ignore.
  • It was Gemini parking solutions london ltd, then drp. Then trace
  • Sorry, its pcm in which trace represents...

Gemini is another that was ignored so its drp thats representing them.

I think representing scammers is a bit over the top.

Solicitors can represent but when it comes to DRP and Trace, they are simply leeches who attach themselves to a scam

It's a debt letter so ignore it.

Spend the time researching Gemini Gladstones claim threads, in case they try.

  • I just received a letter today from trace legal department. Am sure you know the contents of the letter but pretty much the same threatening tone about paying up or else they will prep for court...
