It they turn you down you again go back to the newbies thread.0

Okay I've sent my POPLA PDF nothing to lose I guess. Your help is much appreciated.
Can I just give a suggestion to you experienced guys:
The newbie thread is great and very informative BUT for a newbie it's very complicated and very difficult to take in. Too much information overloaded all over the place addressing so many things at once. This is the reason why so many newbies still open their own thread even after reading the newbies thread. I read the newbies thread several times but I still had to ask questions to get confirmation of several things and to finally understand the process.
I would advise that the information is broken down into a much more organised manner. That will save you all a lot of hassle and time. That way when you tell users 'look at the newbies thread' they won't come back even more confused.
There should be a nice clear diagram showing the process at the top of the newbie thread so that newbies understand the process they will be going through and what responses they are supposed to expect.
I'm sure I will get attacked for suggesting this but I'm just offering some positive feedback from my personal experience. I work in IT and I write manuals all the time and I struggled with the newbie post! No doubt people do figure it out in the end but only after tons of unnecessary confusion and wasted time as well as unnecessary questions.
Many thanks, will update on how my POPLA appeal goes.0 -
Personally, I hate flowcharts (they look so childish to me even at work!) so you will never see one on the NEWBIES thread, and it doesn't work. It would be too wide.
There is no simple 'do this, then do that' because cases have too many differences.
When I tried using hyperlinks, newbies didn't realise they were links, so I have to show them all in full as a URL.
It's the best I can do and isn't complicated IMHO.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I think that's the issue. 'Personally' you hate flow charts but unfortunately the newbie thread is aimed at newbies NOT yourself! Newbies LOVE flowcharts. Too wide? I can make one for you that will fit nicely.
I appreciate all the work you have put in and I'm sure it's the best you can do that's why you need to get people with the right skills involved. You have the knowledge but you may not have the best way of presenting it.
I only suggested the above because PERSONALLY I know how complicated everything seemed as a fairly technical newbie myself. If you want true feedback ask your clients (in this case the newbies). Take my advice on board and you will notice the constant repetitive posts from confused newbies will drop overnight. If I knew how straightforward the process is I would've just got on with it months ago.
Many Thanks0 -
Perhaps why not draft up a 'model' for viewing? My understanding is that the forum software isn't a great help in making graphical things happen - but I'm no techy expert. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. Here's is a totally rough draft to test how an image shows up in a post and give you an idea of what you could do. Small flowcharts for each process may work better than a giant complicate one.
