You mean they don't think you're being helpful?
I don't think you're being helpful (especially with nonsense threads and posts constantly attacking this sub-forum) so I'm not sure what your point is. If you don't like this sub-forum then simply ignore it.

Unfortunately people don't always have the foresight to see that you are helping them more than others by giving the correct advice whether or not they wish to hear it.
The problem is, you think that knowledge is the only thing needed to make someone helpful. It isn't.

For someone to be helpful, they need to impart that knowledge and advice to others in such a way that it will be accepted by the people that it was directed at and IMO, this is what many people see you failing at.
You come across as very arrogant towards others, for instance, in this thread you stated:

LOL. Gas plumbers with a superiority complex.
and with that one sentence, you are saying that you consider yourself superior to all plumbers and when someone posts a comment regarding the cost for something and your one and only reply is:

    Absolute rubbish.
without giving any further information as why you think it rubbish, that's not exactly a helpful reply is it?

I've been doing the job I do for close to 40 years now and I think that I'm pretty good at it and very knowledgeable about the equipment I work on and a couple of years ago I was given the opportunity to become an instructor, something which I declined.
    Why?
Although I may well have a very good knowledge of the job and everything it entails, this doesn't mean that I have the necessary skills and training to pass that knowledge over to others in such a way to ensure that they take it in and I honestly think that you are the same Risteard.

Au contraire, the point I was making was that gas plumbers shouldn't pretend that they aren't plumbers. They are. They have no right to style themselves as "engineers". I wasn't having a go at plumbers (despite their disgraceful attempts at electrical wiring which breach all Regulations).

The fact that I am superior to plumbers had nothing to do with the remarks.
