Remember you don't have to visit any board to view posts, If you just view new posts you see anything and everything new.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

I see your point.
Agree that it's providing innacurate and false information but it gives a faint guestimate to a price.
Other than a "Ask A Tradesman" subsection it's not going to change.
I actually think having that as a section would be very helpful !:)
I think you hit the nail on the head. The main board title is so vague.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I would state without fear of contradiction that I am probably the most helpful user on this forum.
:rotfl:
If the most helpful award is also accompanied by the most abrasive and pedantic awards, then we'll let you keep it.
Most of us didn't know it was a competition.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

So why is your ratio of thanks given compared to the number of posts made far lower than many other posters who also offer regular advice?
Surely if most people found your answers to be the most helpful from all users, you would have a commensurate number of thanks in relation to the number of posts you've made.0 -

Unfortunately people don't always have the foresight to see that you are helping them more than others by giving the correct advice whether or not they wish to hear it.0 -

You mean they don't think you're being helpful?

I think it is a pointless board. You and I are both in the industry and both know that each quote is unique. So to ask people who have never seen the job as to whether the quote is fair is foolish.
.
Whilst I agree in theory I do think it is nice to have somewhere to ask 'Is 15k a fair price for fitting a garage door?' or 'Roughly how much wold you expect a boiler replacement to cost for a small 3 bed house?'
I agree that every quote is different and there may be a reason why that quote looks high compared to normal, but to be able ask and then add a bit more info once the OP realises their door replacement is more complex than normal hence the price and then get reassured that they are not getting ripped off is a nice thing to be able to do.
Could it all be done in the normal DIY section though without the need for it's own sub section? MaybeThose who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000
