I lurk on here as our house needs a lot of work doing, so I'm interested in what sort of costs we have ahead of us. I've often clicked on something and found there aren't any replies. I think the sub forums are often a waste of time.

No, posts rarely get answered because it's so quiet

The question is whether it is particularly helpful as a sub-forum, given that there don't seem to be that many replies. Would it be more helpful if those sort of questions had more replies but weren't segrated?

There was a post this week that had a flurry of replies on this board and was then moved to die a pretty quick death. Even the phrase used when moving a thread is around aiming to get the post more replies.

I quite like it, for helping others. I've had a lot of work done over the last few years so its quite rewarding telling others what I paid for similar (or the same) work.

If my 2 or 3 sentences help someone to not get ripped off, or to shop around, then I think its all good. I visit it once or twice a week to see if i can advise on quotes

The DIY section? Probably 4 or 5 times a week, so I do use this main forum more
