A SAR will show the information they hold about you, including if you had PPI, if that information is still available.
SARs are no longer chargeable.0 -
His credit record will go back 6 years. It wont say if there is PPI but it will tell you what lenders he had in that period. After that it is his own records and his memory.but how do i find out what ppi my oh had to start with years ago. What details do they send out and is it now free.
Everything they hold on you that contains personal data. With a bank, that could be thousands of pages potentially. It would be quicker to ring their PPI line and just ask them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I have a couple of agreement numbers and closing letters so know about 5 lenders.
I'm looking for pre 6 years.
If i do the ppi line / form online thing via his bank (seeing as though he has had the same account) will that show all agreements he has had or just ones with his own bank.
have read loads on here just if I'm trying to do it myself, want to get it right with trying to do this late in process.0 -
His bank will only be able to tell him the agreements he had with them.
They're not responsible for any selling by any other lenders.0 -

Claims firms cannot assist in finding old accounts, that information is not public. His bank, if he hasn't changed for some years, might be able to tell him from old records what DDs / standing orders he was paying out e.g. for credit cards or loans or car finance etc but there is no guarantee - they may just send copies of old statements for you to look through.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You put the truth.
Only state what you know.0 -
Why is he not doing this himself? I'm surprised that the banks etc will give you this information about him.
And, what makes you think he was mis sold PPI?0 -

I am trying to do this for him coz he was going to use a cmc and when i asked and read on here there is a big don't use cmc, so thought i would at least try.
I got the information from filling in an online ppi check form, with the companies i have account numbers for or closed accounts.
I wasn't with my oh at the time he got theses credit for and have never filled in the forms, so just want to get it right.
I also have read to fill in as much as possible and it is also better to say nothing & leave blank or say can't remember than to lie.0
