it says tempered glass here in the spec sheet?Get some gorm.0 -
if you look on the ikea web site it says its tempered glass. why dont you buy one take it to a glazer and get them to cut you some with socket holes in the ones they cut. as far as i know tempered glass is normal glass which has been reheated to toughing it up (they have to send it away for this normaly 3 days) the ikea glass looks frosted so they can do this to.0

I think I'm going to just buy one and attempt to get a glazier to do this. Now, where's the yellow pages........0 -
might be cheaper to ask the glazier to make one for you, rather than buying this and having it altered.
My nearest glazier has lots of gorgeous examples of their gass splashbacks in the window. Shame OH says no to pink glass instead of white tiles in the kitchen.:rolleyes:0 -
None of the glass splashbacks I've seen have sockets. They're supposed to be streamlined. You either need a specialist that can provide with holes - if they can get measurements exact with granite worktops, I'm sure it can be done with glass at a cost. Or you need an electrician to move the sockets out of the way.
I guess you have a cable tidy of sorts on your worktop so you can plug in small appliances underneath, or you have worktop mounted sockets, if indeed building regs would allow for that.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

quote from the wiki site:
Toughened glass must be cut to size or pressed to shape before toughening and cannot be re-worked once toughened.
Tempered glass must be converted to annealed glass before cutting or grinding.Get some gorm.0 -
This isn't going to be the ideal solution to your tempered glass problem but it is a more of your thinking out of the box solution.
if you go to the Homebase and other diy supplier web sites and search for pop up sockets you may be surprised how chic these items are and give a cleaner line to a kitchen .
basically its an extension socket that pops out of the work surface and drops back in when not in use...great for the wooden work surface not so good for the granite etc..
hope this inspires:rotfl:0 -

These are designed to be either worktop mounted or under-cabinet mounted and they're pretty smart, I think. We used them for our switches, but not our sockets, and I kinda wish we had gone the whole hog and had the sockets done too...
Good luck!
