Flow Energy worries

Hi Everyone, Im new here and I'm sorry if I'm posting something which has already been covered.
I am currently leaving Flow energy, as my ;unlimited tariff' has doubled over the past 2 years. My contract with them is also conveniently up for renewal. However, I have checked my bill online with them, and it states that I still owe them over £700! This seems impossible for the size of my house and it's occupants. I have switched to Green Network Energy, which is due to start imminently. My question however is, can flow request:j that I pay the £700+ bill, when they clearly weren't calculating my monthly usage properly, and therefore keeping me at a level where I didn't owe them anything? Help much appreciated! :A

Its quite possible that Flow will block the transfer.
Most of these large bills are due to the consumer not providing meter readings . Have you been doing so?
Why do you think the £700 is impossible ?
I have a Flow account and its very easy to entre reading on line. I also get monthly statements.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hi Everyone!
I am new too.
My current supplier is Flow Energy. I able to enter my meter readings, and i think £700 of electricity usage in the past 1 year is reasonable.0 -
DG1974 - what info did you give GE when you initiated the swop ? The annual cost as per 12 x DD or the actual consumption (based on two readings 12 months apart) If the first then you are going to have simialr shock with you GE bill.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Hi, thanks for your replies. I don't think £700 per year is unreasonable at all. I pay £106 per month and have been providing meter readings. My online account says I'm £700 in arrears. Thats what Im worried about. I informed them as soon as I went to swap, and as I said, my contract is up with them anyway. I received no response to my email telling them I was leaving them, and the swap is imminent. What Im worried about is that they'll turn round and say that I owe them £700+ now, despite paying my bills every month according to their calculations.0

Hi, Ive provided both companies with meter readings on the same day. GE was highly recommended on this site, which is why I went with them. If Im providing readings and paying the sum they charge me each month, how can I possibly be amassing such a debt?0
-
The sum you pay monthly >> Is that based upon a yearly estimate of usage or actual monthly usage .
Sign up to Flow and the DD amount you pay based upon an estimate of a years usage .
You have readings from start and end of Flow account ??0 -
Yes, I believe so. You provide them with readings and they work out a flat monthly sum. Maybe the £700 id pro rata or an estimate. Im hoping so.0
-
I would suggest you give them the meter reading (either take a photo of the meter).
it should be calculated correctly.0 -

But their calculations depend on you doing your part in providing monthly readings - have you ? When did you last send them readings ?
Re Francismay's £700 - you cannot compare your property with Francismay.
Give us your opening readings with Flow and todays and yoru DD and we'll do some sums for you.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I have stated that I have given readings when requested.0
