With the industry hell bent on promoting keyless entry theft, what can be done to stop it?

How about removing a few stars on NCAP for models that can be broken into?
Simple and cheap steps - as described by AdrianC - can remove the risk.0 -
What is the point in keyless entry? Is it really that hard to press a button on the fob?0

Add a 2nd step with a simple button press on the fob to confirm its physically in your hands , you approach car , key fob flash , press button . Same steps to confirm start car .

Or, dare I be so bold as to add, turn a key in a door lock?
Why is the wheel always being re-invented?0 -
I saw how they opened the door, yes. Clue - it wasn't by taking advantage of the keyless entry...Sorry no I'm not confused, those are keyless entry and start models, they aren't busily cutting a physical key in there are they? Do you see them put a key in any of the doors before they enter the vehicles once they've programmed a key?
OBD port security flaws apply to keyed cars just as much as keyless. But as it seems you want to limit the discussion to relay theft then go ahead.
If you're talking about keyless, you're talking about RFID relaying.
You might as well point to a keyless car being taken on a transporter.0 -
Which does kind of negate the whole point of RFID proximity security, the benefit of which is not having to press a button on the keyfob to unlock the car.Add a 2nd step with a simple button press on the fob to confirm its physically in your hands , you approach car , key fob flash , press button . For me it's a novelty but one that means I can have a key secreted somewhere on me and open the car or boot without hunting for the key and can start the car which I like. With the sports I do, I can get back to the car wet or cold and it's nice to just pop the boot without trying to fish out keys
Mine does have a key to open it in the fob though it seems to set off the alarm if the battery is flat.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If a car has windows its easy to steal. Brick them up.
But they they will just lift it away. Thats been happening for years where is the scaremongering for that?
When the pug convertibles were popular a friend had theirs stolen. neighbours watched the breakdown truck lift it away in the middle of the day. They assumed it had broken down or going in for a service.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
