Temporary Internet for a traveller

I've just seen this on the (Cyprus) Paphos People forum - can anyone advise ...


I'll be going to the UK for a short visit to relatives who don't have a landline anymore nor any form of Internet access. They have just very simple basic Nokia mobile phones now, as I do.

I've read that you can purchase a USB Dongle plug it into my Laptop which connects you to the Internet via the UK mobile network G3 or G4. And that you can use it on Pay As You Go terms.

Anyone done this and does it work? Can I buy a Dongle in Paphos and set it up before I go to the UK. Thanks.

I use a UK Three PAYG data sim both here and in Cyprus.

The dongles don't need setting up, you just stick the sim in and away you go. Needless to say, don't buy one that is locked to a particular network.

Yes, but where does he buy the dongle in the first place - I can't see any on the Three site or EE?

As an example EE do these. You put an EE SIM in them and they create a WiFi signal for you to connect to.

yoo can get them on ebay, but they probably only work with EE sims

Argos have a 3g usb dongle for £15. It includes an EE SIM and 2Gb of data.
