if your VCR player has an aerial OUT socket, just connect to aerial IN on TV. Then tune to the Analogue signal on TV

If it's a digital TV, this won't be possible.

If it's a digital-only TV then you're right. The TV needs to have an analogue tuner for this approach to be feasible.

But there are still many devices in use that will use the analogue tuner. VCRs for example, some older Freeview boxes that output to RF (though most of these are SCART now) and various other things that work via an RF cable. Just because there are no broadcasts that can use the tuner doesn't necessarily write the technology off.

OP can easily check by going into Settings and seeing if there is an ATV option. :)

You are missing the point............analogue tuners nowadays are for connecting to older equipment, not for receiving terrestrial broadcasts

I use it for an old VCR and sky magic eye to change channels
(Sky is actually watched thru HDMI)

Indeed, although the UK's analogue transmissions were turned off years ago, my modern flastscreens still have analogue tuners - used often for transmitting Sky around the house. Anyway, before suggesting RF, and in the absence of SCART, OP should be looking for composite cables - not as good as SCART potentially, but definitely better than RF. Composite is the yellow, red and white round plugs - if both devices have these, this would be a good solution. Yellow is picture, red and white is stereo sound. You can get away with just yellow and white, for mono sound.
